City Of
Angel, after leaving Sunnydale & his first love, has come to Los Angeles. He has taken up his habits of saving humans from lurking evils. One night a man introduces himself to Angel. His name is Doyle & he tells Angel that he has been sent by 'the powers that be', an unknown powerful force that sends Doyle painful visions. Doyle tells Angel that what he needs is contact with the those he saves, that if Angel doesn't see them as as real people that Angel could go over it one day & begin to feed on humans. Doyle's visions direct Angel to meet a girl named Tina. Awkwardly Angel gets to know the girl a bit. Tina is afraid of someone called Russell. Angel scares Tina off & she goes back to her apartment. Russell finds her there & contorts to a vampire face & kills her. Angel reaches her apartment. He sees the dead girl on the floor, blood still fresh on her neck. He touches the blood, not tempted by it. Teacher Doyle, lesson learned. Meanwhile, Cordelia, who says that her acting career is really taking off, is not doing as well as she has conceded to. When Russell takes notice of her, she looks as it as an opportunity for a free lunch, but she had no idea she'd be the food. She soon figures it out, upon meeting him, & is rescued by Angel. The next day Angel goes to see Russell during a meeting with his lawyer- of the lawfirm Wolfram & Hart, who aid evil creatures with legistics- & Angel pushes Russell threw a window during daylight. Later, in his room, Angel dials the phone. Buffy answers, but Angel doesn't. Upstairs, Cordelia has decided that she is going to help Doyle & Angel fulfill the mission, by working with them, with pay of course. & Angel reinstates his willingness to continue to save the lost.
Lonely Hearts
A demon preys on lonely people at a night club looking to 'make a connection'. The connection for the demon is to sleep with it's victims through it's last victim's body & then enter the new body, leaving each previous host eviscerated. Doyle receives a vision shortly after trying to get Angel to put a good word in for him with Cordelia that leads the trio to a night club. Angel eventually figures out what's going on & plots to stop it. While on his hunt for a killer he meets Kate. As it turns out, she's an undercover cop & suspects Angel of the crimes. Eventually, Kate becomes a target & Angel rescues her & kills the burrower demon with fire, leaving Kate wondering about this Angel but wanting a mutual trust with him as well.
In The Dark
In this first "Buffy"/"Angel" crossover, Oz visits the agency after Spike found a mystical ring that makes a vampire unkillable. Oz gives the ring to Angel who is more in awe that it was a gift from Buffy then in the power the ring could give him. Spike is in town to get the ring & goes after Angel. He kidnaps Angel & hires a vamp who is a master of torture to get Angel to tell where he has hidden the ring. Meanwhile, Doyle & Cordelia make a deal with Spike to exchange the ring for Angel. They make the trade, Oz rushed in with his van before Spike could back out of the deal & kill them all, & the vamp-torturer guy grabs the ring. Angel makes Oz drive to find the guy because the torturer has a thing for kids. The torturer is on a seaside boardwalk. Angel gets out of the van, during daylight, & knocks the guy into the water. They have a big fight & Angel takes the ring off when the torturer is in a staked position. Angel then puts the ring on & goes out onto the beach & sees the sun for the first time in 200 plus years... At the end, Angel watches the sunset on the roof of the agency. Then, he tells Doyle that he's not going to wear the ring because it only looks like what Angel's been wanting- forgiveness, redemption- but it isn't & if he becomes a creature of the day perhaps he'll stop seeing the things that lurk in the night. Once the sun sets, he smashes the ring.
I Fall To Pieces
A women is being stalked by a surgeon with the ability to transport his body parts to another place with the power of his mind. Doyle's visions lead the group to the women who hires Angel after being further wigged out by the man. The group vow to protect the girl. Meanwhile, Angel goes to Kate to get further info on the man & learns that the man's lawfirm, Wolfram & Hart, turned her filing a restraining order on him, to him filing a restraining order on her. Doyle & Cordelia are assigned to look after the women as Angel goes to 'take care' of the doctor. The doctor takes care of them instead & goes after the women. She finally realizes he's nothing to be afraid of, he's the weak one not her, & she's done being afraid. Then Angel arrives & severs his body parts so he can never put them back together again. Later, the women pays the agency for their services, leaving her feeling independent in that she owes them nothing for it was just a service.
Rm w/a Vu
While Doyle pines away for Cordelia, the girl finds herself in need of a place to live that isn't terribly coachroach infected. She chooses to crash at Angel's for a bit, for Angel one day is too long. Angel bargains with Doyle for an exchange of services. Doyle helps Cordy find an apartment, Angel helps Doyle out with a demon who has come to collect on some past money Doyle owes his boss. Doyle is more than happy to help & is just as excited as Cordelia is when they find the perfect place. Unfortunately, something wasn't mentioned in the lease. The place is haunted by a the elderly-at-the-time-of-death women who built it, who isn't exactly sweet in her old age. As Angel finds out by contacting his police source, Kate, many "suicides" have occurred in the apartment. The group goes to cleanse the place. Cordelia is being put down by the ghost when suddenly an insult hits pater & Cordy regains her equilibrium. Then uncovers the truth. The ghost had killed her son, Dennis, Cordy sets his spirit free & Dennis does away with his mother. So, Cordelia is left with a lush, cheep apartment with a great view, & a benevolent ghost, Dennis, as a roommate.
Sense & Sensitivity
Angel helps Kate nab a mob boss who happens to benefit from Wolfram & Hart services. Little Tony's (the mob guy) lawyer sets it up so that the L.A. cops have to take sensitivity training, unknowing it's taught by a guy with the magical power to make people extremely & entirely too sensitive. Angel notices when Kate gives an emotionally harsh, but true speech at her father's retirement party. Angel goes to keep Kate safe, knowing that she's under the influence of something, & takes Kate to the agency where she tells Cordy that she needs to give Doyle a chance & then leaves to go find her dad. Otherwhere, Angel goes after the sensitivity trainer & falls victim to his charms. The cops are so effected that they set their prisoners free, including Little Tony who goes after Kate. Doyle & Cordelia get Angel to act like Angel for long enough to get into the prescient & help save the day. In the morning, everyone is back to normal, Kate's father is still harshly emotionally unresponsive, & Wolfram & Hart are aware that Angel needs to be dealt with.
The Bachelor Party
Doyle saves Cordelia from a vampire, which results in Cordy developing feelings for her hero. Just as she’s gonna make her move, enters a women named Harry. Harry is Doyle’s wife. They’ve been separated for a while & she wants him to sign divorce papers so she can remarry to a guy named Richard. Richard is a demon, one of a now peaceful, domesticated family. Doyle reveals that his demon-self didn’t present itself until he was 21 (when he was married & teaching third grade). He never knew his father was a demon until then. Harry dealt with it & became intrigued by the world of demons, as in studying it. But, Doyle couldn’t deal, the marriage dissolved. About Richard, as it happens, his demonic heritage calls for the eating of a past husband’s brains when marrying. Harry & Angel figure that out. Doyle lives. Harry calls it off with Richard, but doesn’t call it back with Doyle. Doyle is depressed & Cordelia cheers him up by saying that he’s a nice guy. Just then Doyle has a vision. Of Buffy.
I Will Remember You
The episode opens like it closes, with Buffy confronting Angel about not telling her about his visit to Sunnydale. The talk & conclusion, that the pair needs to just keep a distance until they can forget what they had together, is disrupted by an attacking demon. Buffy decides to stay long enough to help Angel kill it. They get separated & the demon attacks Angel. As Angel kills it, it’s blood mixes with Angel’s & suddenly Angel becomes alive. With Doyle’s help, Angel contacts The Oracles, who have direct access to ‘the powers that be’s knowledge. The Oracles tell Angel that this is permanent, he’s free to be human. So he goes to Buffy. The two try, but can’t fight the passion they feel for each other. They share a few hours of bliss filled with mortal pleasures. Doyle has a vision that the regenerative demon isn’t dead & Angel goes to fight it. But he’s human now, & therefore needs to be saved & is saved by Buffy who kills the demon for good. Angel again goes to see The Oracles. He asks if something that the demon said was true- that the end time was coming. They say yes & reveal that Buffy will die when it happens. Angel asks for her life, but it is not their place to give or take life. So, Angel asks for them to take his life, his humanity. The Oracles understand what he’s asking, & what he’s sacrificing. So they grant his asking the only way they can- by turning back time by one day. With the 24 hour’s last few minutes, Angel tells Buffy what is going to happen. Buffy does understand, even though it breaks her heart. The day’s last minute’s spent with a desperate kiss & hug with Buffy repeating: "I’ll never forget". The next instant Buffy is angry & feet away from Angel. It’s the brief talk shared 24 hours earlier where they reside to stay away until they can forget what they had. The demon charges in & Angel kills it for good. The next instant Buffy is gone & Angel is left alone with the memory of a day that never was, to anyone but him.
Hero
Doyle gets a vision that leads the trio to a family of demon half-breeds that are hiding from an army of half-breed-hating demons called The Scourge. Then, Doyle revels to Angel that he's come across The Scourge before. See, back when Doyle had just found out about his demon side, a relative from his father's side came to see him. The relative asked if Doyle could hide him & his family from The Scourge. Doyle had just learned about the whole demon thing & still couldn't deal, so he sent the relative away. Later, Doyle receives a knock on his door- sparking his first vision, which was of his family dead. The current half-breed family in danger has a prophecy about a "promised one" who will save them from The Scourge. They assume it's Angel. However, it's Doyle. See, The Scourge finds the family just as Angel is about to get them safely out of the country via ship-travel. The Scourge has built this machine that's light kills anything with human blood in it. Once Angel has fought the Scourge off, the family- plus Doyle, Cordelia, & Angel- are left locked in a part of the ship with the machine fully armed. Doyle punches Angel so that he won't be the one getting killed disarming the machine, & gives Cordelia one kiss (earlier in the episode she found out he was half-demon, didn't care about it, & told Doyle to ask her out) in which a strange blue light sparks between their lips, & jumps to the light. Doyle suffers a horrible death but disarms the machine, saving everyone. The episode ends with Cordelia & Angel watching a video tape of Doyle that Cordelia had taken for a commercial for the agency. Doyle says: "Come on down to our offices & you'll see that there are still heroes left in this world... Is that it? Am I done?"
Parting Gifts
Cordelia is really depressed about Doyle's death & is looking to find something- just one thing- that Doyle has left behind. However, she's not exactly happy to learn what he left behind: his power to her. The kiss between the two transferred his ability to get visions from the P.T.B. (Powers That Be). A demon named Barney has come to Angel for help. He's an empath demon, he can read people's emotions. He says someone's after him. Angel finds that the guy is Wesley, Buffy's old watcher who she fired. Wesley was fired by the Watcher's Council as well & now is trying to have his life not be in shambles by being a demon hunter. But he's tracking the wrong demon, he thinks Barney is good, but Barney's the one they should be after. Barney collects the source of power for people with special gifts. When he learns about Cordelia's visions, he kidnaps her & puts her up for auction. She is bought by a Wolfram & Hart lawyer. Angel, along with Wesley, uses a drawing that Cordelia made of her first vision to find & save the girl. At the end, Cordelia feels that the gift from Doyle is a good thing because it was Doyle's greatest possession, & he gave it to her. And the lost, only ever out to do good, Wesley looks like a new member of the Angel Investigations team. One door closes, another opens.
Somnambulist
Angel is having dreams of killing people in a way he did hundreds of years ago when he was evil. He figures the killer is an old student of his who is still doing what Angelus taught him. Kate is after the killer. While Angel is trying to capture the vamp, Kate sees what Angel is. She investigates vampires, but don't expect her to be as understanding as Buffy. She tells Angel that if she sees him again, she'll stake him. The evil vamp is now out to prove to Angel that he can do something original & imaginative, but he really can't do it so he goes after Kate. He kidnaps her & takes her into the sewers. Angel shows, & as the two vamps are tussling, Kate takes a large stick & stakes them both. But only in the heart of the bad vamp. At the end, Cordelia tries to convince Angel that no matter what he once was, he is good today.
Expecting
Cordelia meets a rich guy who charms her into bed. The next morning she wakes up 8 months pregnant. Angel & Wesley go to see why she didn't come into work & see what has happened. Angel goes to find the daddy. It turns out he's not the father. Him & his friends worship a demon who in exchange for wealth & prestige, uses his followers to impregnate women with his demon spawn. The demon has a strong psychic connection to it's kin & therefore the mothers. Cordelia is suddenly serving her master as she goes to his lair with other women to give birth. Wesley distracts the huge demon while Angel freezes it with nitrogen. Cordelia is suddenly no longer under it's power so she smashes it into pieces. Later, Cordelia tells Wesley & Angel that the thing she learned from this was not that men are evil- she knew that, not that L.A. is full of self-serving low lives- she knew that too. What she really learned was that she has two people who she trusts absolutely with her life.
She
A princess from another dimension is trying to escape the persecution of the women of her land. See, they have this thing in their back called Ko, it is the center of their being- it's their desire & self. The men have been ripping out women's Kos because the women are physically stronger than the men & this is the only way the men can control the women, by making them submissive. There is a conflict here with Angel helping Jhiera, the princess. Her people come into the world extremely hot, & as such, they can burn earth people, & when a human male gets aggressive, they tend to charboil. It's only happened a few times, but for Angel that's too much- he has to protect his people as well. Still, Angel does what he can to help Jhiera save her people- but she doesn't do the same. Given the choice of letting Cordy & Wesley die or give herself & her women up, she choices the death of the humans. Of course they escape, & of course, Angel helps Jhiera escape & then threatens the men of her dimension into leaving our dimension, blah blah bitta blah, you know the drill, Angel's the hero. At the end, Jhiera goes to Angel to tell him that her people are safe, as she leaves her Ko burns for Angel- & he's not exactly unaffected by her.
I've Got You Under My Skin
Cordelia's visions lead Angel to a house where Wesley discovers an excrement from the possessing demon, Ethros. They learn that the young boy in the household is the one possessed. They discover that this demon is the hardest to exorcise because it jumps to a new body after the exorcism. They have no one to do the exorcism, so Angel reluctantly lets Wesley. The demon tells Wesley all kinds of bad things about how he wasn't good enough for The Council or for Daddy, about being locked up under the stairs for hours by his father. It looks like no one can do the ritual, until the demon says some of Doyle's last words to get to Angel, & Angel covers his hand with cloth so he can hold the cross needed for the exorcism, & exorcises the demon out. Unfortunately, Cordelia was in charge of getting the special Ethros box that would contain the demon (instead of body jumping) & she gets one too small. It breaks out, which takes so much energy that it needs to rejuvenate before possessing again. Angel & Wesley track it, & it reveals that it never even presented itself until Angel did a little something to see who in the house was possessed- that the boy had no conscience. & did evil not to do evil, but just for the hell of it. Angel kills the demon & goes to save the family. Meanwhile, the little boy is trying to kill his sister by fire because she had 2 more marshmallows in her hot chocolate that night. The group rush in & save the family. At the end, Kate & the cops come, & take the boy away.
The Prodigal
Angel is having flashbacks of when he was alive & made a vamp. His father kicked him out because he was a no-good layabout, he then encounters Darla, who makes him a vamp. When he wakes, he wants to kill his whole village. His last victim is his father. Once Angel, or should I say Liam (he's real name we discover) has killed his father, he claims that he's finally defeated him. Darla tells Liam (Angel if you're confused) that all that we were, informs all we become; & that now his father can never approve of him, which means Liam will never have victory over his father- ever. Angel is thinking about his father because of situations with Kate & her father. Her father is a go-through guy for an auto company that is pushing drugs to a breed of peaceful, balancing demons. Kate's Dad doesn't understand what he's moving or who he's dealing with- vampires. When Kate's father suggests that things are getting too hot, his employers kill him. Kate & Angel go to kill the vamps responsible. They do & then Kate tells Angel to not even comfort her, he's not human & therefore can't understand her pain.
The Ring
A man comes to Angel saying that his brother has been kidnapped, Angel takes the case. He is led to a place, a sort of underground fight club where demons are captives & have to kill 21 demons in the ring to be set free. The demons are kept there by an attached mystical bracelet that, if they pass a certain point, will disintegrate them. Angel soon finds that he's been led to this place because his client runs the place & wants Angel to be one of his slave-fighters. Although Angel doesn't want to kill anyone, on his first fight he does end up killing his opponent. Meanwhile, Cordy & Wesley track Angel down & work on finding the right electrical current to make the bracelet come off. Impressed by Angel's first kill, a Wolfram & Hart associate tells Angel he's free if he works for her Lawfirm, of course he says no & goes back to the cage with the other slaves. Angel tries to encourage all the demons to revolt against their oppressors, but they are too scared. The best fighter is pinned against Angel, it will be his 21st kill. Once in the ring, Angel tries to convince the demon that if he doesn't revolt, he'll always be their slaves- finally Angel gets to the guy & they refuse to fight. Wesley, with Cordy's help, has perfected what they need to get the handcuffs off. One of the demons steals it & breaks free, he then goes & frees Angel. The demons put one of the cuffs on the owner of the fight club & throw him across the red line- he disintegrates. Afterward, Angel waddels home with Cordy & Wesley as the three shortly discuss that they did a good thing today- except only a bad side is that the creatures they freed were demons.
Eternity
Angel saves an Actress from getting run over by a car. She's impressed that he has never heard of her & goes to see him about some scary fan letters (a la "The Bodyguard"). She soon discovers that he is a vampire. Turns out, the whole stalker thing was a ploy for media attention to get an upcoming TV role. It doesn't work, though, she loses the part because she's too old- (a la Hollywood) then the idea sparks. Who's gonna live forever- young & beautiful. To induce Angel into making the blood exchange, she slips him a drug (a la Robert Downey, Jr.)- to make him happy. Of course- as Cordelia likes to constantly remind everyone- when Angel gets happy, bad things happen. Angelus is awakened. Wesley figures out that because this isn't "true happiness"- it's just a temporary chemical effect- it'll wear off. However, that good news still doesn't save the actress & the rest of the Angel Investigations team from Angel's current high. After saying some hurtful stuff to Wesley & Cordelia, Angelus is knocked out. Wes & Cor chain Angelus up until he's Angel again. & oh, for an hour or so after he's Angel again.
Five By Five
Cordelia's visions lead Angel to a gang member who Angel takes to testify against some no-doubt evil guy who is represented by Wolfram & Hart. So Wolfram & Hart decide to get some revenge. Upon finding out that the rogue slayer, Faith, is in L.A. reeking bruises on the populous, the firm offers the girl cash for the kill. Faith agrees after hearing who they want her to ax. Faith attempts to kill Angel a few times, telling Angel that they are playing a game. When he doesn't want to play, Faith kidnaps Wesley. After a round of torturing, even Wesley, who beforehand had insisted that Faith was good underneath, gives up on Faith. Angel enters and a fight ensues, after a few rounds of Faith not killing Angel, Angel figures out what Faith really wants and refuses to give it to her. When Angel refuses to kill Faith in the fight, Faith starts breaking down- crying "I'm bad" and "please just kill me". Wesley who had broken free and obtained a knife, drops the knife upon seeing this, and Angel then holds on to Faith as she cries.
Sanctuary
This episode picks up where the last one left off. Angel takes Faith back to his place & tries to get her to understand that it's not going to easy changing & that she can never truly make up for what she's done- but by going through a lifetime of guilt she will save her soul. Buffy comes in, having heard that Faith was in LA, & isn't happy that Angel's helping Faith. Faith tries to apologize, but Buffy doesn't let her. Angel steps in, trying to get Buffy to understand that Faith doesn't need this now. Buffy hits Angel, so Angel hits back. Meanwhile, Cordelia has taken a paid vacation & Wesley is out playing some darts as The Watcher's Council Special Operations Unit show & offer Wesley reinstatement into the Council in exchange for Faith. Although Wesley has faith that Angel knows what he's doing with Faith, Wesley goes along with the Council guys in order to warn Angel that they are coming. They show just after Buffy arrives &, because Buffy has been up against these killers before (when she was in Faith's body), she helps take care of them. Buffy & Faith end up on the roof yelling about the past. Buffy yells that Faith tried to take everything away from her & that she believed in Faith more than anyone. & Faith counters that with that, on the other side of the rivalry, Faith just felt pain, hate, & inadequacy- which was hell. Then the Watcher's Council guys come in & start shooting- one of them in a helicopter. Angel jumps up to the helicopter & takes that guy out. When it's over, Faith is gone. Meanwhile, Kate, the cop, has taken to some of the more supernatural cases, & therefore has assigned herself to Faith's case. When Wolfram & Hart can't kill Faith or Angel, they go to Kate & tell her where to find the wanted girl. Kate shows up as Angel gets off the helicopter & Kate arrests him for aiding & abetting. Buffy & Wesley go with Angel down to the police station & they all see what's already there: Faith, who confesses to what she's done. Afterward, Buffy & Angel argue & Angel tells Buffy that she can't be doing this vengeance crap in his town, because here it's about redemption. Faith, right now, isn't Buffy's business. In response, Buffy hits Angel with that she's in love with someone new. The episode ends with Wesley & Angel talking about how now Faith has a chance to find peace.
War Zone
Angel Investigations is hired by a rich, geeky guy who designs software. This guy went to a demon whorehouse & he's now being blackmailed with some pictures of him & a demon-girl. Angel is hired to get the pictures back. While he's doing that he encounters this group of street-kids who have taken up a little demon-fighting. The leader, Gunn, has a little sister who he's very protective of. She's protective of him, too. She fears that he's too close to the edge- that he has a need for death & cares not about the human lives lost while taken down vamps, only that vamps are getting taken down. The group is after a pack of vampires that claim their neighborhood as their territory &, naturally, the vampires are after this group of hunters as well. Angel tries to coax the kids to understand that what they're doing is too much for them to handle & that they are just going to get themselves killed by doing it. (Very good parallel between 2 human gangs.) The vamps take Gunn's sister & kill her & turn her into a vampire. Gunn goes to stake the vamps out & encounters his sister. She offers him immortality & freedom from hunger & the street-life. Gunn has to let go of his sister, the one who he's cared most about & was doing this vamp-hunting for, in order to stake her. After he does, Angel, the rest of Gunn's gang, & the vamps show. Angel offers the solution of a truce- the humans might take the evil vamps out, but some of the humans will go down if they try. Gunn decides he's killed enough today & everyone departs. Later Angel goes to see Gunn & tells him that even though Gunn doesn't want his help that maybe Angel will need Gunn's help someday.
Blind Date
Angel encounters a woman who has just killed a guy. To Angel's shock, the woman is blind. Later, Angel discovers that the woman is currently on trial for murder. She's being represented by Wolfram & Hart- for free, which means she works for them- & naturally, they get her off. Lindsey McDonald, a lawyer whom Angel has encountered varies times, is beginning to feel uncontented. He can't believe how bad he let things get, how much evil things he has done. He's freaked, so he goes to Angel about a new job the blind woman has been given. She is supposed to kill three kids. These kids are seers. Together they are powerful & will continue to increase their powers as they grow up. Angel sneaks into Wolfram & Hart to get disks that will tell him more about the job. Lindsey does his part to help Angel fool Wolfram & Hart's various mystical protectants & gets Angel access to where he needs to go. While getting the disks, Angel sees a golden scroll & takes it- he doesn't know why, he was just drawn to it. Angel finds out what he needs to stop the assassin & saves the kids. Later, Wesley tells Angel that he has translated parts of the scroll that Angel took & that he thinks Angel was drawn to it because it has a passage on Angel himself. The scroll was full of fairly ancient prophecies of do-gooding & such. At the end, Lindsey is going to leave Wolfram & Hart. He's copied the files that Angel took & says that if they kill him or whatever he'll revel them to the public. Lindsey is out. But his boss then offers him a better job. Not because he's scared of what Lindsey could do- he knew the whole time what Lindsey was up to- he does it because he thinks he knows who Lindsey is. & then he leaves Lindsey to decide if he wants the new job or not. Lindsey takes it.
To Shanshu in L.A.
Wolfram & Hart are prophecized to cut off Angel from the Powers That Be. They conquer Vocah, warrior of the underworld, to do so. He breaches The Oracles temple & kills them. He makes Cordelia see all the pain in the world. & he steals the scroll that Angel took from Wolfram & Hart, because they need it, & blows up Angel Investigations. Angel is distraught as he runs into Kate who is still miffed about her father dying. Kate is committed to ridding the world of "Angel's kind" & Angel tells her that is if she wants to be enemies then they'll be enemies. Angel goes to see the Oracles & finds them dead. The spirit of the Sister Oracle is there & tells Angel that it is Vocah who did all this. Angel stakes out Wolfram & Hart & follows them to a crept where they are doing a ritual. Angel kills Vocah & misses the opportunity to stop the ritual. Lindsey is there with the scroll- the Oracle told Angel he needs the scroll to cure Cordelia. Lindsey tries to throw it in a fire, so Angel chops off his hand & takes the scroll. Wesley translates the words needed to cure Cordelia & Cordy wakes saying that she's a changed person. She knows the evil that's out there & she is resigned to help the people in need- no more hating what Doyle gave to her. Later, Wesley, who translated a pivotal word in the scroll to mean death- that Angel was going to die- figures out that 'shanshu' actually means that Angel is going to be made human by the P.T.B. as a reward for his years of righting his past wrongs. At the end, Wolfram & Hart have in possession the thing they raised in the ritual, the thing that is supposed to bring Angel down to evil- Darla, the vampire who sired Angel.
