Le Krewe Des T - Cajuns

The history of "Le Krewe Des T - Cajuns"

"Le Krewe Des T-Cajun's" was started in 1998 by Wade & Mary Dufrene & their daughters Kellie & Jill. Jill rode in the "Krewe of Pointers" at the "pointe" for three years. She would not be able to ride the following year because of the age limit.

Jill wanted to continue riding in a parade. She asked her dad if their was anyway to start a parade in Larose where she could still be able to ride. Wade contacted the organizers of the "Krewe of Pointers" Jay & Willie Cheramie to see what steps would have to be taken to start a parade in Larose. After obtaining the information, we were able to organize our first parade.

The parade was held Febuary 22,1998.Our theme was "Disney" & (to our surprise) it consisted of 28 home made floats & approximently 252 children.

Our king was Tyler Hebert & our Queen Clair Hebert. The Grand Marshall was Wilber Lewis. The parade rolled from the Larose Civic Center up fifth street and across the Pontoon Bridge. It headed South on LA1 & disbanded at K-Mart.

Our second year our paraderolled on Febuary 14,1999. Our theme was "In the Movies." We had 36 floats participating & about 350 children. Our King was Jordan Trosclair & our Queen was Skyla Galjour. The Grand Marshall was Dwana Fontane.

In our third year the parade rolled March 5,2000. Our theme was "Anything Goes". The King was Axl Cheramie & our Queen was Jamie Felarise. The Grand Marshall was Deputy Elliot Day. This was the first year we had a Royal Court. It consist of: Captain Austin Trosclair; Maids Nicole Comeaux, Emily Allemand, Kimberly Beth Chauvin, Elizabeth Dantin, & Courtney Callais; Dukes Blase Terrebonne, Zachary Rousse, Atrieus Laudun, Michael Bagala, & Owen Dubois. There were 42 floats & about 400 children riding. Some of this years throws were beads, stuff animals, trinkets, & it was also our first year for wooden doubloons.

In our fourth year, our theme was "Nursery Rhymes & Fairy Tales." Our Royal Court was announced at our ball on Febuary 3,2001. The court is selected by a drawing of all children interested in being on the court. Our throws will consist of beads, stuffanimals, trickets,& wooden doubloons.

The parade is set to roll Febuary 25,2001. We would like to thank the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office, Larose Civic Center, Parish President, & our members for making our parade a sucess.

Sincerely,

Wade,Mary,Dolly,Kellie,& Jill
