Serena Lyons
This is my second attempt at garb.  I used no commercial patterns but used a mish- mash of draping and drafting.  It was an interesting experience.  I think everything turned out pretty well for someone who 2 years ago could barely manage a needle.

Nearly all of it is handsewn since my sewing machine and I hate each other, with a passion.  I recently found out it has a wiring problem and that I should NOT use it, at least until I get a new foot pedal.

I plan on trying to post more detailed pictures as soon as the gown is complete, and I learn more about how to get it on a webpage

Tudor gown 75% done
The French Hood
The french hood is made to match the gown.  It is done in with buckram, wired, the same velvet as the gown and silk habotai for the veil.  It is trimmed with white braid, pearls garnets, and brass gold tone beads.  I hand pleated 4 yards of gold ribbon for the edge.  It isn't as tidy as I would like and I plan on taking it off and redoing it as soon as possible.

Girdle and other bits
There is a girdle which I forgot to put on.  There is also a matching pouch because let's face it there are things I need to carry.  A fan, when you wear this many layers with the insulation my babies endowed me with, you need it. desperately.

The french hood has been torn apart (the kids sat on it one too many times) I am going to try and remake it with a more period profile.
This dress is black silk/rayon velvet. I beaded it with freshwater cultured pearls and garnets.
The forepart and false sleeve are  a black and red shot silk dupioni.  Not period, but beautiful all the same. The false sleeve is chainstitched in gold thread with garnet and pearl flowery like thingies at the intersections. It is closed with black silk ribbons tipped with beadcaps and a pearl.  The light almost white looking part of the hanging cuff is for now an ivory silk taffeta.    The chemise is 3.5 oz linen, I hope to start blackwork on it very soon. Corset is a screaming tomato red linen. (not taking pictures outside, for the whole neighborhood to see, of that!)

There are a lot of plans for this gown.  I intend on chainstitching a border at the bottom of the skirt.  Something with the diamond shapes of the false sleeve.  I need to put the frill cuff of the chemise on, but not until after it has a narrow border of blackwork on it.  Same with the neckline.  Nothing elaborate just a little bit.  I need to fasten the cuff to the upper arm.  Overall I am really very happy with it and cannot wait to get it completed.

Update:
The fur was a failure, I need to find a fur with a straighter line to be used with this project.  The border at the bottom of the skirt idea has also been dropped.  I am working on learning and blackworking the wrist frills.  I am struggling to try and finish this project.
