In answer to your question about what makes a no kill shelter, I would have to say this. To me a no kill shelter is a place where no matter now many animals there are, they will not be put down. If the animal is terminally ill and suffering and could not be helped, then it would be put to sleep. But only then. Also the only no kill shelter that I know of that is in the Gulf Coast area of Texas is Special Pals. This shelter is about an hour and a half from where I live. It is in the city of Katy, Texas. Now this is a true no kill shelter as far as I am concerned. If the animals are sick they go to a special vet that lowers his fees. They have even been petted out to the volunteers who try to care for the sick ones. Only when a pet is ill and suffering and cannot be helped is it put down. Purrs, Sunduster |
