Fencing is a great way of getting physically and mentally fit. Fencing is a fast and exciting combat sport, where you can feel the excitement of combat in complete safety and fight against an opponent where no virtual computer game can ever match. This Club is focused on fun and developing sport fencers to compete in foil, epee and sabre. Although most students are under 18 years of age, we do accept adults into the class. Equipment is provided for free for the first year. Students are expected to purchase their own fencing equipment after one year of fencing. The minimum equipment required is a fencing mask, fencing jacket, foil, under plastron and glove. Breast plates are mandatory for female fencers. Some equipment can be bought second hand through the club or new through Tom's Fencing Supplies ( JG Fencing ACT's Rep). Contact Tom on 0402 298 711. Within the club, fencers are ranked according to experience, technical knowledge, technical skill and practical ability. Level 1 = Complete and pass 1 term Level 2 = Complete and pass 1 year Level 3 = Pass assessment on "Fencing Basics" (Knowledge only) Level 4 = Pass assessment on "Fencing Basics" (Practical Skill includes bouting) Level 5 = Pass in level 3 and 4 with 1 year of bouting in ACT or NSW fencing competitions.
