Hoop Shoot

Concord's P. E. Department hosted the Elk's Club Annual Hoop Shoot Contest on January 29. Winners in each catagory were:

8-9 year old boys

1st - Austin Aldrich (Oak Grove)

2nd - Martez Booker (Dunham's)

3rd - Cody Allen (Concord)

10-11 year old girls

1st - Bethany Dye (Concord)

2nd - Leah Sellers (Oak Grove)

10-11 year old boys

1st - Daniel Sellers (Concord)

2nd - Seth May (North Highland)

12-13 year old boys

1st - Jason Frost (Oak Grove)

The district Hoop Shoot Contest will be held at Concord gym on February 12, 2000.

 

Gymnastics

On February 5, 2000, Concord gym will be the location for the Concord Gymnastic Fun Meet. Students from"Absolute Gymnastics" will participate. Judges for the meet are Ms. Tiffany Daum, Ms. Kim Spindler, and Mrs. Amanda Stone. Concord gym will also be the host for the Jefcoed District Gymnastics Meet. This meet will take place on March 9. Meet director is Mrs. Linda Herold.

 

Physical Education Classes

During the months of February and March, K-2 students will be involved in units on Eye-Foot Coordinaiton, Striking Skills (using short and long-handled implements), and Physical Fitness. Third and fifth graders will be taught units on Hockey, Juggling, Rhythms and Dance, and Physical Fitness.

 

Jump Rope for Heart

In November, 243 students from Concord participated in the American Heart Association's Annual Jump Rope for Heart Event. Top money-raisers were Ryan Privette $150, Cierra McCarty $124, and Micah Hooper $110. The total raised for heart research was $4,823.13.
