This web site explores how technology can be used to promote effective study skills.  Promoting Effective Study Skills provides research, strategies, and resources on the topic.
Writing Resource Center
The Writing Resource Center is a work in progress, but contains information that may be helpful to students.  Learn about the different types of writing, the writing process, and writing tools.  This site also contains writing links and a handy writing glossary.
Ms. Moran's Literature Links
This site contains activities and links for the stories in the fifth grade literature anthology, Don't Forget to Fly.  It also contains a comprehensive list of annotated links.
Read Across America Technology Activities
This site details some technology activities that can be done with students during the Read Across America national reading celebration.  It contains a student and teacher activity page.
NASA Planetary Mission
This web site contains an multidisciplinary lesson plan that details a project in which students research a planet and create a web site about it.  The site includes a teacher lesson plan page, an assessment rubric page, and a student page.
Inventors & Inventions

Free Web Sites

Would you like to create your own classroom web site?  If so, these links are for you!

Homestead
At Homestead you can build your own web site with the Homestead SiteBuilder.  It offers lots of features to help you create a professional looking web site.  Homestead offers 16 MB of free web space and places a Homestead bar on the bottom of each of your pages, but no advertising.
Yahoo!  GeoCities
At Yahoo!  GeoCities you can build web pages by using the page wizard or page builder.  GeoCities offers 16 MB of storage space for free, and if you are using FrontPage to create your web site it support the FrontPage Server Extensions.  A small GeoCities window will be placed in the corner of each page, but it can be closed.
Tripod
Tripod offers 50 MB of free space, site building tools, and add-on features.  Tripod also has free CGI Scripts and JavaScripts that you can incorporate in your web site.  A rectangular advertising bar is placed on the top of each page.
NBCi
NBCi provides free unlimited web space as well as a page builder.  A narrow rectangular bar is placed across the top of each page that contains links to NBCi and some advertising.  The bar cannot be removed or closed.
Angelfire
Angelfire provides up to 30 MB of free web space as well as online web site building tools.  A large rectangular window that contains advertising and links to Angelfire is placed on the top of each page.  The window can be closed.
Crosswinds
Crosswinds offers free unlimited web space and doesn't place any advertising on your pages.

Free Clip Art & Graphics
There are lots of free clip art and graphics available on the Internet.  Always read the copyright policy before taking any images.  To save an image from the Internet, PC users, right click on the image and choose Save Picture As...  Below are some of the better collections of free clip art and graphics as well as some sites that contain educational clip art and graphics.
Barry's Clip Art Server
Barry's Clip Art Server is a searchable collection of animations and clip art.
Animation Library
Do you like adding animation to your web pages?  Then Animation Library is the site for you!  It contains thousands of categorized free animations.
Teacher Files
Teacher Files is a small collection of categorized educational clip art and animation.  This site also contains some lesson plans and teaching units.
Animation Factory
Animation Factory is a huge collection of over 30,000 animated GIFs.  They are categorized to help you find the animation you are looking for.  You can also sign up to receive animations via e-mail each week.
Kid's Domain Clip Art Index
This is a collection of icons and clip art with a "kid's" touch.  The clip art and icons are categorized into holidays, seasons, and other titles.
Microsoft Clip Gallery Live
This is Microsoft's searchable collection of clip art, animations, photos, and sound.  It contains over 120,000 items, so it's a great place to go for graphics.
School Image Gallery
This large collection of images is maintained by students at Hoxie High School.  The images are not categorized so it will take some time to sort through them.
Re-vision Webpaper
This is a collection of GIFs that can be used as backgrounds.  They all have a paper effect, such as spiral notebook, kraft paper, or graph paper.
Graphic Map's Clip Art for Web Sites
This is a collection of clip art including continents, flags, globes, usa images, and more.
Absolutely Free Backgrounds
This is a collection of categorized backgrounds.  You can also sign up to receive a free background each day via e-mail at this site.
NBCi Clip Art
Choose from animated GIFs, photos, or Java buttons at this site.  The images are categorized by type and topic.  You can browse the images without membership, but must become a member (for free!) to download them.  This site includes a lot of unusual images and a choice of background color for many of the images.
