Cloth Diapering a Newborn
On this page you will find favorites of other Mama's who have cloth diapered a newborn.  While I realize that all babies grow differently, this will hopefully give you some idea of what worked for other cloth diapering families.  Thank you to the Mamas at Ovusoft's Cushioned Tushie Buddy Group who helped put this information together!

Questions that were asked:
1.  Favorite diaper?
2.  Favorite cover?
3.  How many for the first few months?
4.  What did you try and didn't work for a newborn?
5.  How much did your son or daughter weigh?
6.  How long were they in newborn diapers/covers?
7.  What diapers did you switch to after the newborn days?
Sierra (craftysierra)
1. At first, pfs snappied in a Prorap color.
2.  Prorap color (for fun).
3.  We had 4 dozen I think, to minimize laundry.
4.  I made some CuddleBuns, they were ok.  I made them into AIOs but they take forever to dry and when they are not all knit, their stretch size is limited.
5.  7lbs 5oz at birth.  18lbs by 4 months.
6.  I think the first size pf lasted a month then at four months we changed again (?).
7.  At 4 months moved to Bumpy covers.  When he did not poop at all changes we went to Aristocrat for the night.  We went to all FB (large) during the day between 6-7 months.  We still use an Aristocrat with a pf at night (small scotch-brite kitchen cloth microfiber insert wrapped into the pf lined with fleece).

Tiffani (TSGraves)
1.  FuzziBunz small
2.  Haven't used any.
3.  I have a stash of 26 small FBs and 10 small Bumkins.  But, I hate to rush to do laundry and got a good deal on Ebay for my FBs.  This allows me to do laundry every other day and still plenty of time to sun the diaps if needed...as long as we have sun.  :)
4.  Kushies just did NOT work in the small for Eliana.  They constantly leaked and took forever to dry.  That's also my only heartache with the Bumkins....they take too long to dry.
5.  7lbs 12oz at birth.
6.  Still in FB and Bumkins small with plenty of room.
7.   We're planning on staying with FBs and Bumkins...perhaps we'll get brave and try something that utilizes one of those adorable wool covers.   But, I think my husband will make me earn money for them from somewhere first.  :)
Joni (JoniH)
1.  FuzziBunz after the first four or five days.  Before that, used cheap Gerber prefolds until the meconium passed.
2.  MotherEase
3.  N/A
4.  Newborn Proraps.  MotherEase were okay but a bit bulky.
5.  9lbs 2oz at birth
6.  In smalls for about two months then in mediums for about nine months after that.
7.  FuzziBunz
Bonnie (bonniep)
1.  Kissaluvs 0's
2.  Bummis and Proraps
3.  1 dozen Kissaluvs and 6 FuzziBunz (ubpf for insert).  Used FB at night, but really changing a breastfeeding newborn so often  you don't need that much diaper power.
4.  Prefolds with Snappi.  Never worked for us, got a blowout every time.
5.  7lbs 2oz at birth.
6.  Three to four months.
7.  FB at night and a variety during the day.
Heather (teachinmama)
1.  Prefolds
2.   Proraps
3.   I had about 1 dozen infant ubpf, 3 or 4 nb covers, 4 small covers, 3 small FB (for night use) and various fitteds that were loaned to me by a friend.
4.  I didn't care for Kissaluvs.
5.  7lbs 10oz at birth
6.  My son gained pretty quickly so he was in the nb sizes for just a few weeks.
7.  After he grew out of the fitteds I was borrowing we moved to ubpf duing the day and fb at night.
