MEXICAN TISSUE PAPER FLOWERS 1. Take the tissue paper sheet and fold it three times in half. Trim the folded piece so that you have a stack of 8 sheets of paper 4" X 8". You may use all one color or vary the color. 2. Floral wire should be cut to lengths of 8-10". (Wire twist ties from garbage bags may be used, but will make a short stem.) 3. Place the stack of tissue paper with a short side closest to you and fold back and forth to form an accordion. Each fold should be about 1/2 " to 3/4" wide. 4. Find the middle of the folded stack. Hold it so that the end folds face upwards. Place the floral wire over it and twist tightly directly under the middle of the stack. The center should be so tight that it is scrunched. 5. Fan open the two sides of folded paper and SLOWLY, GENTLY (very gently!) pull up the first layer to the middle of the blossom above the wire. Then pull each layer gently towards the center, one layer each side at a time. When the blossom is fully fluffed you may cover the wire with floral tape or leave it as is. If the blossom gets crushed it can be gently fluffed again. |
