ROOIBOS - "The Miracle Tea"
History

For over 300 years, the native Africans have been using Rooibos in the Western Cape of Africa.  Carl Humburg first reported this beverage in 1772.  Since the 1900's, it has been admired forits properties for the body, mind and spirit. Rooibos is an African Red Bush that has many healing powers, also know as, "the Miracle Tea". 
  In 1904, Benjerman Ginsberg, had been in the tea business for many years and found the mountain people drinking this beverage and found it was good for business, as Ceylon Teas were on a shortage due to World War 11.  In the 1920's, Pieter le Frans Nortier, a South African doctor, discovered its value as a tea and encouraged widespread cultivation of the tea.  The tea is a legume.  Today, the tea is exported to 135 countries worldwide for the past 5 years. 
  Recent studies have proved that the tea is naturally high in Super Oxide Dismutase (SOD), an outstanding antioxidant level and a preventative of free radical damage.
  Rooibos is grown in the volcanic soil of the Cedarberg mountains of South Africa.  It is rich in natural nutrients of the volcanic soil and free of pollutants of the air and soil. Organically grown and is free of additives, preservatives, colourants and calories.  Rooibos tea brings the health conscious person a neutraceutical beverage and food supplement which has medicinal and nutritional properties.  This indigenous herbal tea supplies the body with vital antioxidants to relieve symptoms of allergies and stress.

Essential Minerals (per 200 ml)

Calcium (1.09 mg) : Essential for the transportation of nerve impulses, clotting of the blood. Vitamin C utiliation, reducing cavities, frmation of strong bones.
Zinc (0.07mg): Aids in the digestion and metabolism of phosphorus and proteins.  Assist in burn and wound healing and in carbohydrate digestion.  Essential for healing skin.
Magnesium (1.57mg):  calms the nervous system naturally.  Acts as a catalyst in helping carbohydrates become properly assimilated in stead of being stored as fat.  Needed in the absorption of calcium.
Sodium (6.16mg): Regulates the volume of body fluids and balanced with potassium maintains pressure equilibrium between fluid outside cells and those inside.  Sodium is also necessary for nerve and muscle functioning.
Manganese (0.04mg) : Essential for normal reproduction function, building resistance to disease and activation enzymes.  Important for carbohydrate and fat production.
Potassium (7.12mg):  Essential for balancing the system, controlling body fluids, normalizing the heartbeat the blood pressure nourishing the muscles, assinting the kidneys disposal of body waste.
Iron (0.07mg) : Vital component of hemoglobin, the oxygen carrying of red blood cells.  Essential for the production of energy and normal brain function.  Important for stress and disease resistance.
Copper (0.07mg) : For the effective absorption and utilization of iron.  Helps oxidize vitamin C to form Elastin (compound of muscle fiber).  Deficiency in copper may result in general weakness, impaired respiration and skin sores.
Fluoride (0.22mg) : Often added to the municipal water supply to prevent tooth decay.  This fluoride is a natural element, found in the volcanic soil.
