Yugo's on the Street

Driving a Yugo now for several years I find them fun and efficent.

After being without a Yugo for a year I recently purchased one off Craigslist. The Yugo has 43,000 original miles right down to the Yugo factory tires. (2008)

It will need a good going over but it will be just as much fun to drive as my previous Yugo's. As gasoline is over $4.00 a gallon, this is a smart choice. (2008)

The Yugo now sports new red wheels and white wall tires. I have it on the road and saving money that I can use for other projects and cars. (2008)

Parts are not as easy to get anymore but the cost is still very reasonable. Orion Yugo in Texas is still a good source and watching for Fiat part listings on the internet has also helped.(2008)

I was lucky with the interior on this Yugo. All it needed was a cleaning and a few new speakers for the radio. The door panels were spray painted with a fabric dye to bring them back close to the original color after fading. (2008)

1987 Yugo GV with 9100 miles. This was the sunny Sunday summer Yugo. It was nice to have for the weekend trips but my soft spot is British sport cars. With limited space and many other projects all 3 of my Yugo were sold in October. (2006)

A nice interior, hard to find on a Yugo even if you take care of them. This is the weakest part of a Yugo and a strong factor to consider if I was to buy one again. (2006)

The last car show prior to sale. They were practical, competitive and whole lot of fun. They are not as bad as some say they are. Great gas mileage, easy to repair, and different in an ever growing world of SUV and cars that all look alike. (2006)

During the off weekends from racing I would show the rally and low mileage Yugo together at car shows in the area. A Yugo is seldom seen at a car show which made it enjoyable to display the two. (2006)

1987 Yugo GV. This was my first street driven Yugo however the right front frame was badly bent from a wheel coming off at some point in its life. The white Yugo was a better driver, so this Yugo went SOLO racing. (2000)

1989 Yugo GVL. The daily driver for several years. Never anything pretty, but reliable and great gas mileage. I drove this Yugo everyday for 5 years. All my Yugo's were 1100cc engine, 4 speed manual. (2001)
