…and go to your EXTREMES in the
Team Extreme Outdoor Eco-Adventure Challenge!!!!
Teams of four will try to complete
a rigorous 6 hour course through Patapsco Valley
State Park. The first team to finish together, with all four members present,
is the ultimate winner! Prizes will be awarded and all proceeds benefit Patapsco State Park through the Friends of Patapsco Valley State Park.
THE CHALLENGE:
Each team of 4 participants will embark on an course through Patapsco State Park consisting of a 2 hour mountain bike ride, a 2 hour canoe paddle and a 2 hour point to point hike. Each leg of the course must be completed with minimum impact to the environment around you. All 4 team members must participate and finish each leg of the challenge. And you must complete the entire course as a team, not individually. The first team to finish the race/challenge, meeting all the requirements, wins.
You must be 18 years of age or older to participate.
All team materials including equipment, signs, tags and
food items will be inventoried and each item (including wrappers) will have to
be accounted for by the end of the race/challenge.
All four individuals on the team will be required to
participate. Teams must work together to finish each leg of the event
together, as a
group.
Family and friends are invited to attend but need to stay
in the staging area of the park (Avalon Area).
We provide the canoes, paddles, maps and water
sources…you provide yourself, your gear (water bottles, energy bars, asprin!), a mountain bike (all speeds welcome, especially
you crazy single speeders!), a bike helmet, some good friends and a crazy desire to
go to your extremes for a day!
The Challenge is rain or shine….so be prepared.
Hurricanes, tornados, severe lightening, snow storms and alien invasions may cause some delay or postponement. We’ll keep you posted via website and phone calls.
THE RESULTS:
And what is the fruit of our labor? All proceeds from the Eco-Adventure Challenge will go directly back into the park through the Friends of Patapsco Valley State Park.
The Friends of Patapsco Valley State Park is the park's "Friends Group" that has been established as a 501(c)(3) non-for-profit, charitable foundation. Their purpose is to improve the Visitor Center and to help the park raise funds to improve trails and interpretive exhibits and programs. The Friends of Patapsco Valley State Park are looking for both volunteer members and financial tax exempt donations to further its causes.
