2001, May 20th Arrowhead Marsh, MLK Jr. Shoreline

Attendees | Park | Pictures

Arrowhead Marsh is a subsection of the Martin Luther King Jr. Regional Shoreline in Oakland.

There is a large open field, one of the largest turfgrass field in the east bay. There is a short boardwalk that goes above the reeds of the marshland, plenty of picnic tables, and a cute sandbox where a marble whale splashes the make-believe ocean.

A two-lane boat launch is located at the south parking lot along Doolittle Drive. Motorized boats and hovercraft are not allowed in the marshland areas, but it's great for canoes and kayaks.

There are trails for hiking, biking, running and jogging. Along the trail on the east side of the park, there is an exercise course.

If you have a state fishing permit, you can also fish along the piers.

See additional information at the East Bay Regional Park site.
