This web site was set up with the simple purpose to find a home for a set of photographs. It was assumed that other web sites would exist giving information on this Dartmoor mine. No dedicated site has yet been found ,so this page has been added to give a little bit of background to the photograpaphs.

The Ore 


Micaceous Haematite:an Oxide of iron called often called "shining ore ".It was used as a base for anti corrosion paint particularly battleship Grey  
The Ore was found in five main lodes running East to West, and mainly worked from adits entering the from the hillside at different  heights.
