Nora looked
throughout the sky, sitting in the passenger seat of the car Matt
was driving. He ocassionally looked over at her to make sure she
was okay. He had been trying to figure out what was wrong with
her but he couldn't figure it out. He thought that she would be
much more talkative assuming she had talked to Shane. He didn't
even think that she would be riding back to the hotel with him.
"Nora...did you talk to Shane?"
"Yes, I sure did." Nora replied, looking straight
ahead.
"Did you two straighten everything out?"
"Does it look like we straightened everything out?"
Nora raised her voice a little, turning to Matt.
"Look, Nora, I sacrificed spending time with my girlfriend
for you. We barely have time to be together since her and I so
busy these days. The least you could do is not give me an
attitude when you speak."
"Why is everybody mad at me? What the hell is wrong with
me?!" Nora cried out before she began to sob in her hands.
"What are you talking about? Nora, I'm not trying to sound
mean when I say this but you are a drama queen. You overreact on
everything."
"What's that supposed to mean?!"
"Listen at you right now. You like to overreact. First, you
go wild on Shane just because he tried to kiss you. Then, you get
mad at him because y'all start to have sex but you brought that
on yourself because you got a tongue ring! Come on, let's get
serious. Isn't that why you got the tongue ring in the first
place?"
Nora wiped her tears and looked up at Shane. He had a point. She
did get the tongue ring so that she could see how freaky Shane
really was. She got her wish and according to what Matt said, she
was still complaining or overreacting.
"Yeah, that's why I got it." Nora replied, not looking
Matt in the eyes.
"Well, then, what's the problem? Shane is not a bad person.
You wanted to know if he likes sex and he does? Jeff and I asked
him how good you were in bed and he answered the question. You
blew the whole thing out of proportion. Why would you wanna put
him through all this drama?"
"I don't do it intentionally. I mean...I don't know! I've
just...been hurt so bad in the past. It's like one small thing
led to a huge problem, which caused a break up. I'm so sick of
bad relationships. I want a good one this time. I'm just scared
of getting hurt, Matt."
"Well, then, tell him what you just told me. You have got to
stop overreacting. It's not only driving Shane...but all of us
crazy. If you're with Shane, you have to put up with me, Amy,
Jeff, Shannon, my dad, his dad...basically the whole NC
dynasty." Matt said, pulling into the hotel.
"There is Shane's car right there. I guess I should go
apologize." Nora said, pointing to a black Lambo parked in
the back of the lot.
"That would be a good idea, Molly." Matt smiled at
Nora.
"Thanks, Matt, for the talk. If it's gonna keep me with
Shane, I'll drop the overreacting." Nora gave Matt a hug and
got out of the car to talk to Shane...if he was willing to talk
to her.
Nora walked for what seemed like forever and got to the passenger
side of Shane's car. She looked down in the window to see Shane
messing around with his cell phone. Knowing that the door was
unlocked, Nora opened the door and sat beside him. Shane looked
over as she did this and sighed. He wanted to kick her out the
car but it looked like she actually had something constructive to
say.
"Shane, before you say anything, hear me out. I owe you an
apology."
Shane put his phone in his pocket, took off his leather jacket
and put his feet on dashboard before he turned to Nora.
"I'm listening...believe me, I really am."
"I wanna...apologize for being just a bitch lately. I don't
blame you or no one else. I put all of the blame on myself. Matt
talked to me and explained to me that I have been overreacting on
every little thing that has happened in our relationship. I'm so
sorry to have put you through all of this."
"You know, Nora, I don't agree with you calling yourself a
bitch...because you're not. But yeah, you have been overreacting
a lot lately. That's what I was thinking about when I was at that
book store. I was trying to figure out what I did wrong. I think
you and me really want this thing to work out. Therefore, when a
little tiny force tries to come against us, we take it too
seriously."
"Yeah, man, that's exactly right. I really care about you
and I really don't want to lose you. That's why I followed you. I
should have left you alone to deal with the situation yourself
and seeing your car back here tells me that you care about me
too."
"I do. Sometimes, a real bad thing can turn out to be a good
thing. I think that's the case with this relationship."
Shane said, moving closer to Nora.
"Does that mean you forgive me?" Nora asked, watching
and anticipating Shane's every move.
"Let this kiss answer that for you." Shane said barely
beneath a whisper, before he pulled her into his arms and kissed
her, both releasing all of the stress they had been feeling for
awhile.
