Mon. 01/08/01- Raw Taping
I bumped into Amy as I entered the arena, since, Chris Jericho, and his wife Jessica picked me up from the airport. "Hey Aims." I said "Where's your girls?" She asked. "They're at home, they'll be here for Smackdown tomorrow." We then parted ways; I had a match with Crash Holly that night and needed to discuss it with him.
My cell phone rang before I got to the room, I checked the called ID in it and it said it was coming from the high school.
"Hello"
"Hey Brandon, It's Dani" The caller said.
"Dani, Dani McKinney?" I asked
"Yeah." Dani replied
I checked my watch, it was 12:30, and lunch was almost over.
"How'd you get this number, girl?" I asked
"Andrea gave it to me." She said.
Dani played on the girl's basketball team with Ashley, and her and her sister Stephanie were good friends of mine.
"You still coming for Raw, next Monday?" I asked
"I don't know, I'll see what happens." She said.
"Well, I got work to do." I said, as I entered Crash's dressing room.
"Ok, bye." Dani said, and then hung up.
4:45 pm
Stephanie told me that I'd have the Light Heavyweight Title until the Royal Rumble on the 21 st.
7:30 pm
The Hardys were teaming with Chris Jericho to face Benoit, Malenko and Saturn. After the match, Lita pulled Malenko off the ring causing him to hit his head; Malenko then grabbed a crate of nachos and dumped it on Lita.
"Was that planned?" I asked her as she came through the curtain, I then dipped my finger in a glob of cheese on her shoulder and licked it off. "Mmmmm, tasty." I replied as she cracked up laughing. My cell phone rang again, it was Dani.
"Hey Dani, I'm sorry but you caught me right in the middle of a promo." I said
"Ok, I'll call back in about 10 minutes, ok?"
"Ok" I said, and then hung up.
The four of us shot a quick promo that concluded in Dean Malenko sneaking into the female locker room. He got a peak at Lita showering before the three of us attacked him. He'd be out of action for at least a month, Dean had something wrong with his leg and would need surgery, and this would explain his absence.
Dani called back as soon as the promo aired.
"What did you want to talk about?" I asked.
"The Royal Rumble, how many people can you bring?" She asked
"I don't know exactly, why? who all wants to come to New Orleans?" I asked
"The basketball teams." Dani replied
"I'll ask Stephanie, and see what I can do." I said, and then hung up.
8:00 pm
I made quick work of Crash Holly, defeating him using Jeff's Swanton Bomb. I said my goodbyes and Amy drove me to the airport to pick up Ashley and Andrea, their plane landed at Midnight and we drove to the next town for Smackdown, I've given up on trying to keep track of the towns we are in.
Tue. 01/09/00 – Smackdown Taping – 4:30 pm
It was going to be a six-man tag tonight. Ice and the Hardys vs. Right To Censor.
I met up with Stephanie an hour later to talk about the Rumble. Steph told me that the limit was 10. I then called Dani, and told her the news. "Ok, I'll leave it up to you, but you have to pick out 10 people and make it into a list so I can give it to Stephanie McMahon." I said. "Ok, bye" Dani said, then hung up.
8:30 pm
Andrea, Ashley and Lita were at ringside with us during our match, the match went back and forth. Matt tagged me in and I went to work on Val Venis, I hit a modified DDT , then tagged Matt back in, then all chaos broke out with Steven Richards getting a cheap-shot super-kick in on Matt and Val making the pin.
Wed. 01/10/01 – Centralia High School Commons – 11:45 am
Steph and I just got through chatting, she gave us all two weeks off for mid-terms. I would return at the Royal Rumble to face Crash Holly, the Rumble was 11 days away.
Dani approached me and handed me the list of people who were going, her sister Stephanie was on it, her teammate Nicole Gussin, friends Leah Hoffman and her boyfriend David. Ashley's brother Paul, his friend Jesse Elam, Andrea's boyfriend Kyle Gilmore, and my friends Aaron Nelson and Jade LeDuc. I talked to all 10 people before lunch ended, they were indeed going.
Sun. 01/21/01 – New Orleans, LA – Royal Rumble – 5:15 am
We all got our car rentals and made it to the hotel. I slept on the plane so I went on a tour of New Orleans with Jade, Nicole and Kyle. Good times.
Noon
I drew #26 in the Rumble match itself, and I also met with Crash Holly to discuss my match, I was losing tonight, thankfully none of my classmates knew about it, they were too busy meeting the other wrestlers… well at least some of them did, security found me and told me that David and Leah were caught in the 17th row, making out, this was around 2 pm. They also met Drew Carey, because he was in the Rumble too.
I shrugged off the incident with David and Leah and went to the dressing room and got some sleep before the event started.
5:00 pm.
The first match of the evening was Crash Holly vs Ice for the Light Heavyweight Title, halfway through the match Deam Malenko came out and distracted me allowing Crash to get the roll up pin.
5:20 pm
I came backstage with Ashley and Andrea to everyone cheering, even though I lost. "We know it was planned." Nicole said. I smiled and said "Well, this night is not over yet, I'm in the Rumble match itself." Nicole smiled, Ashley asked "Isn't that in like an hour?" "Two hours actually" I said. We all made our way back to the dressing room to watch the rest of the nights events.
7:30 pm
Andrea, Nicole, Ashley and Jade were there as I took my cue from the stage manager and ran out and joined the Royal Rumble match, I didn't last long though, Stonecold Steve Austin was #28, so as soon as he came in, he threw me out. He won the match, and goes to Wrestlemania 17 to fight in the main event.
Mon. 01/22/01- Raw Taping- 8:30 pm
Nicole, the McKinneys, Ashley, Leah and David flew back to Centralia, there was a girls' basketball game tonight and they had to be there. This just left me with Andrea, Jade and Aaron Nelson.
Stephanie told me that I was going home a winner tonight because I was facing Test for the European Title, then coming back in February. Andrea was making her singles debut tonight. The card is as follows: Ice vs Test – European Title Match, Hardys vs A.P.A., Andrea vs Molly Holly
The first match was Andrea Dawson vs Molly Holly. I learned something about Andrea in this match, she has been paying attention, because she was in control most of the match, even though Molly won with her "Molly-Go-Round" front flip splash.
9:00 pm
My match was the last one for our group, the Hardys lost to the A.P.A. earlier, now the European Title was on the line. I came out alone because Jade and Andrea were having their "Girl Talk" amongst each other. Jade was going back to Centralia tomorrow, so was Aaron.
Test is an aggressive fighter, but no match for my quickness, I hit a jawbreaker that looked like a rock bottom, and pinned Test 1-2-3.
"Your winner and new WWF European Champion, Ice." Lillian Garcia announced. I climbed up all four corners and displayed the European Title. The crowd popped loudly as I did.
11:30 pm – A plane heading home
Amy brought us to the airport and dropped us off, we thanked her for showing us a good time.
"Thanks for bringing me, I had fun" Jade said as the plane took off. "No problem, next Pay Per View is No Way Out on the 25th of next month. "So who are you bringing?" She asked. "I don't know" I said as we both drifted off to sleep.
Tue. 01/23/01 – C.H.S. Commons –11:40 am
I had a Hardy Boyz "Fear" T shirt in my hand and I found Dani McKinney, she was talking to Ashley and Andrea. I gave the T-shirt to her and said "Welcome to the team". Andrea hugged her. "Thanks Brandon." She replied.
