"I AM SO
PROUD OF YOU, AMY!" Jeff yelled.
"I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS! OH, MY GOD!" I replied.
I just stared at the letter ECW sent me saying that they want me
to start wrestling next week. I gave Jeff a big hug. Matt looked
on and smiled a little. I started to cry.
"Thank y'all so much. I could never pay you back for
everything you guys have done for me." I sobbed.
Jeff gave another hug. I cried my heart out on his shoulder. I
couldn't believe it...I was a professional wrestler. I've never
really watched ECW but I guess I should start.
"You better do your thing down there. Represent us to the
fullest because you gotta unlearn what you've learned." Jeff
said.
"I know right. I hope I can do my best down there." I
wiped the tears from my eyes.
"I want you to be more than just a valet. I want there to be
more to you than just that stand-there-and-look-good
approach."
"Don't worry. You know me, Jeff. It has been a long road to
get where I am today. A long road."
"Yeah, now you can get the hell out of my house." Jeff
said.
"Fuck you too, man. That's another thing, Jeff. I wanna
thank you for letting me stay here for all this time."
"No problem. Liger's gonna miss you like crazy."
"Awwwwwww, I know. Come here, baby!" I called Liger.
He came running out of nowhere into my arms. I hated that I had
to leave him.
"I love you so much. Did you know that? Huh? Did you
know?" I said to Liger as he licked all over my face.
"I think he knows."
I couldn't help but notice that Matt was being so quiet. He was
just sitting on the couch watching TV. You would think he would
be happy that I've finally gotten a real job.
"Matt, what's wrong?" I asked.
He looked up quickly at me and smiled as if nothing was wrong.
"Nothin'. I'm fine."
"Why are you so quiet?"
"No reason."
"Well, aren't you happy for me?"
"Of course I am. Why wouldn't I be? You've finally
accomplished your dream. I'm glad that I helped you to get
there." Matt said.
I gave Matt a weird look. He acted like he was sad about
something but then I realized it.
"Matt...are you gonna miss me?"
Matt got nervous and looked at the ground. I took his face in my
hands and made him look at me in my eyes.
"Of course, I'm gonna miss you. You're the little sister I
never had, Amy."
I smiled, gave him a hug and a kiss on his cheek. He was so
sweet.
"You know that whenever I'm off, I'll come visit y'all
first."
"Amy, where are you gonna put all your stuff? What about
your room...in my house, might I add." Jeff asked.
"Who said I was moving out now? I'll be in my room until I
save enough to get my own place. I'm not out of your life
yet."
"When do you have to start working?" Matt asked.
"They want me on the job next week. The show is in Houston,
Texas. It's on Friday night. I guess I'll leave next
Tuesday."
"Oh, okay."
"Matt, are you alright, man?" Jeff asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine." Matt said as he walked into the
bathroom and closed the door behind him.
"He's a sensitive guy. Pay him no attention."
I smiled a little but I wondered what was wrong with Matt. I had
an idea but my friends are always right. They told me two weeks
ago that Matt had a thing for me. I didn't believe them because
me and Matthew were just friends...are at least I think we are.

"Where the hell is he? He said he would be here." I
said as I looked around the airport.
"I don't know where he's at, Amy. This isn't like Matt. I'm
usually the one that's late." Jeff replied.
"The flight leaves in three minutes and they're already
boarding!" I sighed.
"He'll be here."
Jeff and me had a pretty good conversation. He explained a lot of
things to me. He told me that I should cherish my last days of
not being noticed and being able to just be me. Jeff was right.
I've seen how Matt & Jeff get noticed on the streets and
every time they go out. They don't even wrestle on Raw or
SmackDown. They just started wrestling on Jakked! My life was
about to change totally. I looked at my watch and sighed.
"He isn't coming, Jeff. I'll just call him and leave a
message."
"I'm sorry, Amy." Jeff said.
I walked over to a pay phone and dialed Matt's number. The
answering machine came on. I sighed.
"What's up, Matt? My plane is leaving in...a minute,
actually. I wanted to see you before I left but you're not home
so...well, this is probably gonna be my big break. Wish me luck
and um, I want you to know that wherever I am or whatever I'm
doing, I'll always love you. Bye-bye."
"I'm sorry, Amy. I'm gonna get him for not coming. Come over
here and give me a hug."
I smiled and gave Jeff a hug.
"I'm gonna miss you so much." Jeff said as he hugged
me.
"Me too. Stay the same, Jeff."
"I will. You take care. You better call me and let me know
you got there safely."
"I will, I will."
I gave Jeff another hug and a kiss on the cheek. I picked up my
bag and got in line to board the plane. I looked at the floor and
kept wondering about where Matt was. I talked to him last night.
He said he would be here. I wanted to see him so bad. I gave the
lady my ticket and reluctantly boarded the plane.
"Bye, Amy!"
"Bye, Jeff!" I waved back.
A tear fell from my eye as I walked onto the plane. I wiped it
away and put on my sunglasses. I sat down and blew my nose. I
looked out the window. I laughed a little as I looked at Jeff
waving from the airport with a big smile on his face. He was so
crazy. I closed my eyes and figured I could try to get some sleep
so that my mind could be at peace for a few minutes.
*********
The next thing I knew, the plane had landed and everyone was
waiting to get off. I yawned and looked around. The line started
moving and I was the last to get off. I got my bags and to my
surprise, there was a limo waiting for me outside. ECW went
through all this trouble for me. I got in and the driver drove me
to the ECW Headquarters. The building wasn't that big as I
expected. I took the elevator to the top floor. The boss and I
met. He was pretty respectful. I looked over my contracts
thoroughly and signed them. He shook my hand and told me that I
needed to visit the storyline writes for a gimmick. Everything
was happening so fast. I was so happy! In the back of my mind, I
kept wondering what was up with Matt. He was partly responsible
for all of this. I hope he got my message. I walked into the room
where the ECW writers were. They looked at me up & down and
started mumbling things to each other.
"Hi. My name is Amy."
They all nodded and said hello. They asked me a bunch of
questions and after awhile, they made a decision.
"We're gonna call you Ms. Congeniality." Some dude
said.
"Ms. Congeniality, huh? I don't care, whatever. Is that
all?" I asked.
"Yes, Amy. You can leave now and welcome to the ECW
family."
"Thank you very much." I happily replied.
I left with a lot of information. The boss told me that I would
get from arena to arena on a bus with the rest of the wrestlers
who didn't have cars and they would pay for the flights if we had
to fly. So everything turned out to be fine. The bus was leaving
tomorrow at five in the morning. Damn, that was something I
wasn't used to. Oh, shit, I forgot to call Jeff. I ran to a pay
phone and dialed Jeff's number.
"Hello?"
"Hey, Jeff. It's Amy."
"You have a good flight?"
"Yeah, everything's fine, Jeff."
"Did you find Matt?"
"Oh, yeah. He said that he had to help daddy out with
something and couldn't make it. He said he tried to call you but
your cell phone was off."
"Damn it. I knew I should've turned it on."
"Why do you wanna talk to Matt so bad?"
"Because I'm not gonna see him for awhile."
"Sure, whatever, Amy."
"What?"
"Nothing. I didn't say a word."
"That's what I thought."
"Well, Amy, I can't talk long. I gotta get me some
sleep."
"Yeah, me too. I'll call y'all tomorrow. Tell Matt to call
me. I'll keep my phone on."
"Alright. Bye."
"Bye."
I turned on my cell phone and waited patiently for that boy to
call me because for some reason, I didn't believe what Matt told
Jeff.
