PART FOUR OF "DOESN'T REALLY MATTER"

Untitled Normal Page

**Seven months later**

Me and Matt's popularity had increased greatly ever since the day we won the Tag Team Titles in June, especially after the Ladder Match with Adam and Jason. People were paying a lot more attention to me and my brother. The number of girls who screamed for us when we walked to the ring went up very high. The WWF Creative Team was very nice to give us Terri Runnels as our manager and valet. She was so sweet. If it weren't for her, guys wouldn't pay much attention to us. Terri did that for us. My relationship with Beth was doing great. She was the light of my life. I know it was hard for her to get used to my schedule but she did it. I look so forward to coming home because everytime when me, Matt and Amy fly back to North Carolina, she's waiting right there to drive us home with that beautiful smile of hers. I had been in so many relationships when girls were just using me. Beth wasn't like these girls, she was a woman and liked me for Jeff, not for Jeff Hardy. Well, Matt and I were in New York for the Royal Rumble. We had to take on Mark Lomonica and Devon Hughes in a Table Match. Those two guys hadn't been in the WWF too long but they were so cool backstage. I remembered watching them in ECW when Matt made me watch it to see Amy. Anyways, my brother and I were chilling backstage going over our scripts. We didn't have to wrestle in about three hours. I figured I would call Beth. I grabbed my cell phone and dialed her number.

"Hello?"

"Hey, girl."

"Jeff?"

"Yep."

"Hey, baby! How are you?"

"I'm fine. What about you?"

"I'm okay. Studying for my test tomorrow. Ready for your match tonight?"

"Yeah, we're ready."

"Don't kill yourself, Jeffrey."

"I won't. Matt loves me too much."

Matt laughed at what he said.

"Jeff, I need to talk to you later after your match."

"About what?"

"Don't worry about it. I don't want you to think about me during your match. Just call me when you go back to the hotel y'all are staying at."

"Okay."

"Well, I gotta go, boo. This test is gonna kill me."

"Alright. Talk to you later."

"Bye."

I hung up the phone and wondered what she wanted to talk to him about. I hoped she wasn't gonna dump me. That would break my heart into pieces. I started to get that look on my face. Matt looked at me and could tell I was thinking about something.

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing. Beth said she wanted to talk to me about something after the match tonight. She wouldn't tell me what it was she wanted to talk about."

"So what?"

"I was thinking if she was gonna dump me."

"Jeff, you know damn well Beth ain't gonna do you like that."

"What if she is? How do you know?"

"Jeff, come on, man. Beth loves you and you love her. She really cares about you. She knows that if she ever did that, you would be depressed for years."

"What's wrong with that? I tell everyone to develop a depression."

"You're very weird, little brother but Beth ain't gonna dump you. She loves you too much. Come on, we gotta go talk to Terri."

"Alright."

*******

My back was aching like crazy. That Swanton Bomb I did on Devon hurt me like crazy. My heels hurt the floor hard when I did it. I was limping as usual. I know Beth had a heart attack when I did that. Everyone gave me and Matt a standing ovation when we came through the curtain. I guess that made it worthwhile. Adam and Matt helped me to our dressing room. Terri acted like a nurse and gave me anything I wanted. Amy did the same. Jason carried all my stuff as they walked me to our car. Amy drove as her man slept in the passenger side. I stared into the sky and looked at the stars. They reminded so much of Beth. I kept wondering what was it that she wanted to talk to me about. Amy and I were getting along today so I asked for her advice.

"Well, Jeff, I don't think she's gonna dump you. Y'all were meant for each other. I honestly believe that. You see Matt and I are so good together because we're both in this wrestling business. We can always see each other, we can talk about anything and we love each other very much. I'm not a hard person to satisfy when it comes to a relationship. I think Beth is the same way. She really trusts you, man. I say that because you're on the road all the time, you see a lot of girls and you know how fine you are. Girls would give their life just to fuck you but you know your limits. Y'all are meant for each other."

"Yeah, I guess you could be right."

*********

I picked up the phone and called Beth. My questions would finally be answered.

"Hello?"

"Hey, Beth. What did you want to talk about?"

"Are you okay, honey?! Is your back alright? You looked exhausted when the referee raised your hand."

"I'm not great but thanks for your concern, sweetie. What did you want to talk about?"

"I can't stand to see you hurt, Jeff."

"Don't cry, Beth. I'm fine. Don't worry about it."

"Okay. As long as you're alright."

"What did you want to talk about?"

"I just wanted to get something straight with you."

"What might that be?"

"I just wanted you to know that I don't care about money. It doesn't give me half the thrill to the thought of you. I know if you could trade the fancy cars and everything else just for a chance to date, it would be incomparable. You might a WWF superstar and everyone says that you have it all but I can't make you love me."

"What do you mean?"

"Just the thought of being close to you is incomparable. You should be happy with the life you live and the things you do. It seems like you have it all but I can't make you love me. I say that because I know you've been with girls who have just used you but I'm not like them. I'm just a girl who really cares about you."

"That means a lot to me, Beth."

"And another thing, it doesn't matter what your friends are telling you. It doesn't matter what my family's saying too. It just matters that I'm in love with you, it only matters that you love me too. It doesn't matter if your friends won't accept you, I'm accepting of you and the things you do just as long as it's you. My love for you is unconditional love. It doesn't matter what the eye is seeing because I'm in love with your inner being. It doesn't matter if you're feeling insecure or unsure because I'll take away doubt within your heart and show that my love will never hurt or harm. It doesn't matter about the pain we go through, it doesn't matter if the money is gone too just as long as I'm with you. Your love for me is unconditional too, I see. It doesn't matter what they say because you know I'm gonna love you anyway, it doesn't matter what they do 'cause my love will always be with you. You're just what I asked for, so loving and kind. I can't believe you're mine."

"I can't believe I mean that much to you. Everything you just said is exactly how I feel about you. You're not a girl, you're a woman and I do love you. That's the truth. My heart is true. I really care about you too, Beth."

"That's all I wanted to say. That's what I wanted you to realize because I felt that I couldn't make you love me since you've had so many girls in the past who didn't really care about you. I thought that you believed I was like the rest of them."

"No way. I know you love me for me and I love you too. I'll be home soon."

"I can't wait."
