After a while,
Amy got tired of crying. She realized something. Even though she
finally had a night with Jeff, she realized after all this time,
it wasn't really what she wanted. Amy and Jeff had sex, they
didn't make love. That's what she wanted, Jeff couldn't satisfy
that need for Amy. At that exact moment, Amy didn't love Jeff
anymore. Jeff wasn't a bad man but she also realized that he
wasn't the man of her dreams like she always assumed. Amy would
never get over the fact that Jeff left her but she decided to put
the past behind her. Amy got out of the bed, wiped her face off,
took a shower and put on some short shorts and a t-shirt. Amy was
hungry, she put on her sneakers and went downstairs to see what
the hotel was serving for breakfast.
Paul and Joanie were already eating. It looked good. Amy waved to
the couple and they waved back. Amy didn't like to see couples
unless she was in a relationship herself. She got in line for the
buffet and she looked to see who was ahead of her and it was
Matt. Amy started to feel uncomfortable about the fact she just
had sex with Jeff. Amy looked at the ground and got what she
wanted from the buffet, it wasn't a lot because Amy wasn't that
hungry anymore. Matt looked at Amy and he could tell she was
uncomfortable about something but he acted like he didn't notice.
"Hey, Amy."
"Hi, Matt."
"How are you?"
"Fine."
Matt figured he should be nice and invite Amy to eat with him. It
might make her feel better about whatever she was feeling
uncomfortable about.
"Would you like to eat with me?"
Amy knew Matt could tell she was uncomfortable about something.
She appreciated Matt's concern. It turned her on a little.
"Sure."
Matt and Amy sat down at a table. He blessed his food, Amy did
the same and then they started to eat.
"Did you get a good night's rest?" Matt asked.
Amy immediately looked up at Matt.
"What do you mean by that?" Amy said all fast.
"Nothing, I was just asking."
Matt was trying to figure out what was wrong with Amy. She was
never this nervous. Amy felt a little embarassed about what she
just said. She looked at the ground.
"Amy, what's wrong?"
"Nothing, I'm fine."
Amy started to eat again. She didn't want to tell Matt about her
and Jeff.
"Look, there's something with you. I've never seen you so
nervous. What's wrong? I won't tell anybody."
Amy really appreciated Matt's concern for her feelings but she
promised Jeff she wouldn't tell but Amy thought about something.
Jeff left her to go back to Trish, Amy figured she could get Jeff
for leaving her by telling Matt their little secret. Amy knew she
was wrong but Jeff knew he was wrong too.
"Okay, I'll tell you. You can't tell anyone."
Amy started to cry. The thought of what she had with Jeff made
her cry, now that it was over. Even though she wanted to get Jeff
back for what he did, she didn't want to talk about it. She felt
uncomfortable again. She couldn't help but cry. Matt put his arm
around Amy. Amy started to feel safe and a little bit better when
Matt put his arm around her.
"Jeff and I had sex last night."
Matt was shocked by what Amy just said. He thought Jeff was with
Trish.
"What? He doesn't go with Trish anymore?"
"No, they had a fight last night and Trish kicked him out of
their room. I told Jeff he could stay in my room and I have a
little crush on Jeff so I changed into nothing but a towel around
my waist. I started to kiss on Jeff and then, he gave in and
well, you know the rest."
Amy was crying uncontrollable now. Matt started to get a little
mad at Jeff for what he did. He still couldn't understand why Amy
was crying.
"Why are you crying?"
"I'm not finished, Matt."
Amy sighed and continued.
"The morning after, I woke up and saw Jeff with his clothes
on. So I asked him where was he going, he said he was going back
to Trish and he told me the only reason he did what he did was to
get Trish back for the argument they had. Then, we promised each
other we would never tell anyone about what happened. That's when
I couldn't understand how Jeff could Trish back if he never told
her about it so after all this time I've been in love with Jeff,
he just left. He apologized but it just wasn't good enough."
Amy started to cry again. Amy asked to be excused and ran
upstairs to her room. Matt immediately got up and walked up to
Trish and Jeff's room. He didn't even knock, he just walked in.
Jeff and Trish were kissing on their bed and Jeff was about to
take off Trish's shirt but Matt grabbed Jeff and dragged him out
of the room. Trish was looking at Matt like he was crazy. Jeff
had nothing but his boxers on. Matt slammed the door behind him
and pushed Jeff against the wall hard and kept him there.
"You just love to fuck girls, don't you?" Matt said.
Jeff tried to push Matt off of him but it didn't work. Matt was
much stronger than Jeff. He pushed Jeff harder against the wall.
"Who the hell do you think you are?" Jeff said.
"Who do you think you are?" Matt asked.
"What are you talkin' about?" Jeff replied.
"I know what you and Amy did, Jeff."
"Damn it! She promised she wouldn't tell!"
"Don't blame this on Amy, you faget. How could you take
advantage of her like that? You know she loves you, Jeff."
"I told her I was sorry."
"Yeah, you're sorry. Look at you in there about to fuck
somebody else. Is that all you want, sex?"
"No! When I came back from Amy's room, Trish was all over
me. She said she was sorry for the fight we had and that she
missed me. Then, she started to kiss me. What did you expect me
to do?"
Matt couldn't believe what Jeff just said. It seemed like he
didn't even care about what he did to Amy, Jeff just cared about
Trish as far as Matt was concerned. He slapped Jeff hard. Jeff's
face turned red. Jeff tried to hit Matt back but Matt restrained
him again. Matt was just too strong. Jeff held his face. Matt
made Jeff look in his eyes.
"If you hurt Amy again, you're gonna regret the day you lost
your virginity."
Matt pushed Jeff on the floor. Jeff held his face and started to
cry a little. Trish opened the door, looked at Jeff and then, she
looked at Matt. Trish got on her knees and held Jeff in her arms.
She looked at Matt again. Matt walked away. While Jeff was in
Trish's arms, he tried to think of why Matt slapped him. Jeff
could only think of one feeling that would make you want to slap
your own brother and it really scared him.
**********
Amy was still in her room crying. She thought she was all cried
out. She wasn't over the fact that Jeff left her. Amy really
thought after that night, Jeff might of considered being with her
rather than Trish. She was wrong. Someone knocked on the door.
Amy wiped her face off quickly, got out of the bed and
straightened it out a little. Now, she looked casual.
"It's open!" Amy said.
Terri and Tori opened the door. They looked at Amy with concern
in their eyes. They sat down beside Amy.
"What's wrong?" Amy asked.
"We saw Jeff on the floor crying with nothing but his boxers
on and Trish was holding him in her arms. I tried to look at
Jeff's chest but her arms were in the way but anyway, Terri asked
Trish why was Jeff crying. She said Matt slapped Jeff." Tori
said.
"Slapped him?"
"Yeah, Jeff said he slapped him because Matt told him, if he
ever hurt you again, Jeff would regret the day he lost his
virginity." Terri explained.
Amy was scared. You could tell by the look in her eyes. She
didn't know Matt was that concerned about her. It turned her on a
little but she still was surprised by what Matt did.
"Now what does he mean by that?" Terri asked.
"Don't lie to us either." Tori said.
Amy rolled her eyes. She might as well do it. She would never
hear the end of it if she didn't tell them.
"Jeff and I had sex last night. I don't want to go into that
much detail. Jeff left me the next morning because he said he was
going back to Trish and the only reason he had sex with me was to
get Trish back for the argument they had. I got mad at Jeff for
leaving me because you guys know I like Jeff. I was up here
crying about it for about an hour. I went downstairs had
breakfast with Matt. He could tell I was feeling uncomfortable
about something. Then, he talked me into telling him what
happened between me and Jeff. I guess he got mad."
"You guess? He slapped his little brother! I think he likes
you!" Tori said.
"Whatever." Amy replied.
"Would you?" Tori asked.
"Would I what?" Amy asked back.
"Would you ever go with Matt?"
Amy smiled for a minute but she went back to a frown. Amy really
liked how Matt was so concerned about her feelings. No man ever
in Amy's life cared so much about her, as far as she was
concerned. Still, she was sick of falling in love. She wasn't
taking her chances on Matt. She was tired of getting her heart
broken time after time.
"I guess so. I don't know. He's cute, kind of."
"Kind of? Matt and Jeff have got to be two of the finest men
on Earth." Tori said.
"Can't argue with that." Amy said.
"Exactly! You should go with Matt." Terri said.
"Did Matt pay you two to come in here and talk to me?"
"So you know he likes you!"
"I didn't say that. How do you know he likes me? You guys
are assuming things, like you always do."
"We're trying to help you out."
"Trying. Look, Matt is cute and I guess I would be his
girlfriend but I just got over Jeff. I need some time before I
fall in love again. You really think Matt and I would be a good
couple?"
"Yeah! He didn't tell us to come in here. We were just
telling like it is." Tori said.
"Well, thank you. The bus is about to leave so I need to
pack my stuff."
"Okay, we'll leave. Just think about it, girl. I managed
them for a long time. He would be a good boyfriend." Terri
said.
"Alright, I'll be thinking about him."
Terri and Tori left. Amy started to think. Would she be happy
with Matt? He has been turning her on for a while. Could he be
the man Amy's always wanted?
*************
Matt decided to drive on by himself this time. He didn't want to ride
in Jeff's car with Trish. He was still mad at Jeff about Amy.
Jeff knew that Matt liked Amy. That's what made him more mad than
anything else. Matt had always planned to tell Amy how he felt
about her but he was just too scared. He was scared about how she
might react. They had been friends for a while and he didn't want
to ruin their friendship but he really wanted to be with Amy. It
was a good thing that he didn't have to wrestle with Jeff
tonight. Matt was gonna fight Eddie tonight, he would lose but
Matt didn't have any regrets for slapping Jeff. He deserved it,
as far as he was concerned. If Amy found out about what he did,
she might get suspicious of his feelings towards her. Matt always
got in relationships with the wrong people. They turned out to
etiher be using him or to just be making a fool of him by doing
something behind his back. Matt was a very sensitive person. All
he ever wanted was someone to love. That's what made him so
afraid to fall in love. Every time he fell in love, it never
lasted. He really wanted that person to be Amy. First, he just
liked her for her looks but the more he got to know her, the more
it got more serious. Matt had been liking Amy for about three
months now. He was gonna tell her how he felt some day but he was
really scared. He was staring at Amy the whole time on the bus.
He hoped she didn't notice and that she would never find out
about what he did to Jeff. Little did Matt know that Terri and
Tori had told her everything that happened.
*******
Amy was thinking about Matt all that day. She was thinking about
what Terri had said. Matt hadn't been in a relationship in a
while, just like Amy. She wondered if he felt the same way he did
about love, scared to try it. He had always been like a big
brother to her. She could tell Matt anything. If she did end up
going with Matt, what if they broke up? Their friendship would be
ruined. Amy didn't want that to happen. Amy then turned around
only to see Matt staring at her. They stared at each other for a
minute but she turned away. She was afraid she was starting to
feel what she said she would not do. The last time she fell in
love, it really hurt her. She was scared to love so fast because
every time, it never seemed to last but some strange reason,
every time Amy felt Matt's presence, the fear that was in her
heart went away. Would this be the one that lasts? That never
happened with Jeff, it only happened with Matt.
*********
Matt was backstage writing in his journal. Matt wrote poems just
like Jeff. This time Matt was writing about Amy:
How many times can I die?
How many times can I break inside?
How many times can I pray for God to take this pain away?
How many tears have I felt?
How many trials can I face before I start to lose my faith?
How many hearts have to mend before the poet rhymes again?
The feeling of you covers me
If I ever love again
It would be with you again
There's nothing that I can do
To keep me away from you
If I ever love again
It would be with you again
My life is not complete
Until you're here with me...
Matt ended the poem with that. He figured the only place he could
have Amy was in his dreams until he conquered his fears.
