WHAT IS LOVE?

A common word for it is love

What is it really?

How much do you give

and what amount of taking is enough?

The intensity now dulled,

a passion once hot forever cold!

Thoughts diminished and replaced by nothingness.

Am I dead?

Inside, no emotions no pain, no tears.

NOT TWENTY ANYMORE

Father Time rang the doorbell of her mind
he whispered words that she had keyed away
'What have you done with your life girl'?

Mother Nature mirrored back her image...
Showing mountains and valleys blocked from view.
'You haven’t weathered the storms very well, have you'?

The weary mother of five sighed heavily.
Beatings from a drunken husband, recorded a broken nose
and twisted limbs, arthritis filled. How had she coped?

Tears glistened she had earned the right for ‘self pity’
She rebuked Father Time and Mother Nature
How much more to endue before they set her free?
