The bettas are on my nightstand to keep me company while I'm on the computer. I have named them Felix and Oscar, since they live in close quarters but aren't always too happy about it (as is the nature of bettas). I have also just added a a pale white and blue betta to the bathroom vanity, he's a tough little guy and gets real upset at the mirror, he's Mario.
I found some red, white and blue female guppies, that I just couldn't pass up. They are Lady and Mable, and are temporarily living with the goldies. I also picked some ottos, Pup and Dawg, to clean up the place.       The new goldfish are a huge red and gold oranda, a calico ryukin, an albino ryukin, and a red and white lionhead. My coworkers at the pet store told me about a huge red and black oranda that came in on my day off. As soon as I saw him, I knew I had to have him. He's huge! I think he's about 4 and half inches without including the tail. Beautiful flowing, black lined tail, and a face that could kill. I named him Tiny.       I had watched for a calico ryukin for weeks, and Tonio caught my eye. I liked the shape of its body, and the way it swims, so smooth and fast. I just can't get a feeling of male or female with all those colors, so I had a hard time picking a name. I decided on Tonio, from the book Cry to Heaven. Tonio was modeled after Allesandro Moreschi and Farinelli, famous castrato singers. He too, could not identify his own class of sex.       The albino ryukin is named Lily, and is about 2 inches, 4 inches if you include the tail. The lionhead I have named Gomer, because he's kind of odd looking without a dorsal fin, so I gave him an odd name. He's about 3 inches, 4 inches if you include the tail. Gomer has incredibly symmetrical markings. |
