I had convinced my mom to get yet another pet, a kitten named Patrick. Patrick had been in our family for a few weeks and it was time for him to go to the vet for a check up. It is about a 3 minute drive from the house to the vet, which turned out to be very lucky.
When my mom got out of her car Patrick was howling. Then, my mom heard another cat howl. The two cats fed off each other's misery and there was a lot of screeching going on. My mom realized it was coming from her car! She narrowed down that the sound was from under the hood. She was afraid to open it, who knows what may have happened in there while the car was running! When the hood was finally opened, there was a tiny, tiny grey kitten sitting on the engine. He was very scared, and so very small. The vet took him in and made sure he was okay. My mom came home rather shook up from the experience, and we asked her, so where's the new kitten? She said, "oh no, we already have a new kitten." But our other cats are old, and Patrick needs a playmate. So I called the vet to see how he was doing, and somehow my mom caved and we went to pick him up. He was only 4 weeks old, and after a bath it turned out he was actually white. We knew he was meant to be with us to have made it through such an experience. He found a warm spot on a cold night, and he found the car of a family that can't say no to rescuing a pet in need. We named him Lucky. His first two days in our house, we couldn't find him. He was very scared, and hid the whole time. After he finally came out, our German Shephard, Kenai, took him under her wing and played momma. Lucky is now very rambunctious and outgoing, and quite the instigator. He'll attack anything that moves, and whines very loudly if we don't pay constant attention to him. He is all white except for two grey streaks on his forehead, what we call devil marks. His nick name is Trouble. |
