"Teak (Tectona grandis Linn.f.) Is a unique species whose timber is most aristocrat amongst the timbers of India. It is one of the most durable timbers in the world and used for all conceivable purposes. Teak is eminently suitable for house, ship and railway coach, building, furniture, paneling, joinery, plywood and many other uses. The demand for this timber is so much that if far exceeds the supply and, therefore, has become today, one of the most expensive timbers of the world. Even the private concerns have shown their interest in propagating this species on large scale for better economic returns. It is of utmost importance that foresters should loose no tiorphology, anatomy, silviculture, management, genetic improvement, ecology, biomass, and nutrient dynamics, utilization, disease, insect pests etc. Of this species.
