Everything Fades Away

everything eventually fades away, how often i'm told that
i have to live with my mistakes so i can't hold back
i betrayed your heart, it became a rose that died
beautiful but destroyed, feeling froze inside
it's not that i chose to lie, i was just plain stupid
now i'm so ashamed that it came to this
i'm the one to blame through this, it was all me
so i sit wishing my phone would ring and you would call me
but it's still a dream, praying for your forgiveness
such a terrible burden to have to live with
i know it's my fault, i take the blame upon me
the last words you said continue to haunt me

everything eventually fades away
that is what you said
now i dread the thoughts running through your head
because you felt betrayed the day
i played games instead
and i know you're fed up from the tears that you shed

such a sobering experience when you mess up
and lose it all, still i wish you the best luck
i guess what really matters no longer really matters
because i broke your heart and left it torn and tattered
now i explore the patterns in all i did wrong
i'm sure it will take a w hile for both of us to get strong
and move on but you say it all fades away
the first cut is the deepest and love is a razor blade
that tends to shave away fear and inhibitions
but then it also slices and dices our intuitions
until we're hit off-guard and get caught up
in the addiction, so this is what i thought of

everything eventually fades away
that is what you said
now i dread the thoughts running through your head
because you felt betrayed the day
i played games instead
and i know you're fed up from the tears that you shed

the most beautiful rose has a thorn
and hell has fury like a woman scorned
my heart is torn and my soul adorned
with painful lacerations and lesions

when the love is cold and hatred burns warm
the brightest day produces the biggest storm
since i was born i've been warned
now i know this is all that's left to believe in

everything eventually fades away
that is what you said
now i dread the thoughts running through your head
because you felt betrayed the day
i played games instead
and i know you're fed up from the tears that you shed
