Look

Can you look at me and find the love
Beyond the stars that quiver and the sun that shines above
Through the valleys and canyons into the depths of the oceans
Can you understand the chaos and accept the commotion
All my anger, all my frustrations and insecurities
When the minor details of my life need treated as an emergency
With an urgency and I have to neglect you
Can you look at me and find love even when I'm disrespectful
When I holler again for every dollar you spend
And make small jokes about how you follow the trends
Can you stand by me even when my temper reigns
And understand that these storms are really just November rains
When I shout and cuss and am only out to fuss
Can you look at me and find love, knowing that all it's about is us
I hope you can because I know we are meant to be
And the realest love I've ever known has been sent to me
This love I feel is strong and always growing nearer
"Can you look at me and find love," I say while staring in the mirror
