Son of Man

Cuffed hands and bound minds claw the sands of time
Digging towards freedom outside of this land of crime
Prisoners who fall to death while the murderers stand enshrined
A better tomorrow is what we plan to find

I have struggled for twenty years with no sigh of relief
Awaiting a greater era when I'm denied of the grief
Isolated on the witness stand where they tried my beliefs
I cried so the weeps would emit pride in the streets

No worry or fears before a jury of peers
I relayed my confession into a story of years
Proclaiming only the truth without glory or cheers
When my own people turned their back, it tore me to tears

Thrown out with the common criminals and nailed to a cross
Only seeking for justice but I failed so the cost
Is doom for my soul that is exhaled to the lost
A crown of thorns, I frown with scorn impaled in my thoughts

"My God, my God why hast thou forsaken me?"
When all that I did was exhibit faith in thee
The events of my life were supposed to be great indeed
But my closest friend was consumed by Satan's greed

So I died that night and returned to the right place
Basking in the radiance of the Eternal Light's grace
Seeing delight traced on every bright face
I realized that it is actually without life's haste

It is from this I hope you will all begin to understand
I wouldn't change this for the world but I have one demand
Learn from my life for when it comes to plan
We are all God's children, we are each a Son of Man
