Starin' out at a world of death and hurt
Hyperventilating, trying to get my breath to work
Coping with the madness on a daily basis
Seeing hope sinking like a boat on babies' faces
There's no trading spaces, I'm stuck to observe
Feeling like the weakest calf plucked from the herd
Survival of the fittest and the Bible is my witness
Seems like society has gone tribal with a swiftness
Chemical and biological warfare and terrorism
Humanity running from the Truth like we're scared of wisdom
But prepared for prison as crime rates rise
Plagued by wickedness, jealousy, greed, hate, lies
And somewhere in between faith dies
Standing in the shadows staring with snake eyes
Into sun-baked skies knowing tomorrow is gone
Grief filtered through belief when I speak sorrow forlorned
And scholars are torn, lusting over dollars and porn
I drop to my knees, head in my hands and holler with scorn
"What will we do when our sons and daughters are born?
Follow the dawn and hope a promise from the water is drawn?!?"
We need to focus; there's not gonna be another Moses
So crying "Let my people go" seems kinda hopeless
But I still wrote this to try and build a way
For people to understand the ways of the world today
