Tonight

tonight
i took a walk
and sat outside
your house

across the street
on a wall
near a bush
away from the streetlight

tonight
i thought of you
i remembered you
i cherised you

the moments
on the porch swing
in the living room
by the car

all captured
in still-frame
photographs
flashbacks
and wishes

tonight
i dared to dream
the memories
of homecoming
of love
of happiness

and

of the concert
of heartache
of pain

tonight
i realized
that love
is never lost
nor hidden
nor forgotten

merely neglected
wished away
sent to the frontlines
to be killed
by cupid's arrow

another casualty
in the war of the roses

tonight
i missed you
i kissed you
and like always
found it hard
to resist you

the feel
as my hand
roams for spans
across your golden sands

and stare
for millenia
into your deep blue sea
enveloped by
limitless clouds

memories?
maybe

realities?
probably

but since yesterday
vanished forever
and today
slips away
at least
i'll always have

tonight
