Scene 2:
Scene 3:
I awoke that morning, rising before the sun
Not knowing of the tragedy that was sure to come
The birds sang beautiful and the wind blew calm
But our lives were about to change before too long
I said some prayers and asked for blessings
This perfect morning soon ruined because disaster beckoned
The first crash unexpected and another followed
My mouth became suddenly dry and I couldn't swallow
Ran to a friend's room to watch the television
The scenes that I saw seemed as if hell had risen
I stood in shock and awe feeling lost and stranded
Again, everything quit moving when the Earth should've slanted
The planes crashed, the buildings crumbled
Disbelief mumbled as mouths dropped like the building's rubble
From the explosions rumble, we watched humbled
Could America really be in this much trouble?
The Pentagon bombed, the White House evacuated
Meanwhile we half-awaited the wrath of hatred
Another plane crashed in Pennsylvania, so much shock and grief
I could watch no more, I began to walk the streets
So unexpected was this violent strike
Could it be the plan of a wicked tyrant's might?
Haunted by the memories of such a timeless fright
Will any of us ever again sleep a silent night?
So much time has passed as we try to get back to normal
The whole thing a reminder of the frailty of being mortal
Our lives have changed from the whole ordeal
Some of us have been brought closer together because love is more real
So now I pray for the families and all of the victims
May they forever be blessed and I hope God is with them
Somewhere the smoke still swirls and the images are fresh in my brain
All I can think about is the death and the pain
The regrets and the blame now as fresh as the rain
Oh this is a hard lesson obtained
Plagued by nightmares of this war, what was it all for?
I stand at the shore of Ground Zero but the trees don't move anymore
