dynamic_zebra: alrighty now its on lol
dynamic_zebra: whats crackin yall
tecnotrec: lol
rusticillusion111: good morning
rusticillusion111: if I dont talk muchits cause im working
dynamic_zebra: good mornin, trent, joe.
rusticillusion111: morning
dynamic_zebra: ok got a news flash this morning, whats the deal?
tecnotrec: if we were to have one person focus on one thing, and get that to the BEST that they can - such as:
Terry takes over "user interface" and w/ that creates the screens, desides the sounds, etc
tecnotrec: (same example was used for joe)
rusticillusion111: oh ok
dynamic_zebra: yeah it'd keep a lotta clash from happening that way
tecnotrec: and then each person would be in "FULL ROUGH DRAFT" control of one part of the game
tecnotrec: each of us would know what WE are doing
dynamic_zebra: yeah. like debugging node right?
tecnotrec: and then as we could focus more on a smaller section that way, i believe it would move along a little smoother and easier
tecnotrec: basically
dynamic_zebra: sounds like a plan to me D:
rusticillusion111: Si
tecnotrec: #include
main()
{
cout <<"alrighty then!";
return 0;
}
tecnotrec: alrighty then, who wants to do what?
rusticillusion111: oh okay
rusticillusion111: hmmmm
tecnotrec: What would be YOUR best part, your favorite thing to focus on
dynamic_zebra: hey trent, like you said before whith the example.... it couldnt pleasure me more for me to do the GUI
tecnotrec: YOUR is emphasised to be to both of you
tecnotrec: User Interface
tecnotrec: agreed then? Terry doing the user interface ok w/ you joe?
rusticillusion111: sure
dynamic_zebra: Correcto. lol i just get a small trip out of bringing things to life
tecnotrec: its yours
tecnotrec: how bout you joe?
rusticillusion111: hmmm
rusticillusion111: Im not sure
rusticillusion111: so many things to be done
tecnotrec: what do you want? What would make you happy, and motivate you to do?
tecnotrec: i dont know what i want either
tecnotrec: lol
dynamic_zebra: ok....hanging question....who's got the plotline?
rusticillusion111: trent
rusticillusion111: LMFAO
tecnotrec: im basically a "project un-supervisor" (un-supervisor as there is no supervision in our project, but the term there because i make out the notes webite *whooo whooo*)
rusticillusion111: thoughI guess I could have the helping hand in that and possibly character development
tecnotrec: do you want stroyline?
dynamic_zebra: ok what about the battle system?
tecnotrec: right now, its matt (who hasnt been to ONE conference)
dynamic_zebra: nah you know me, storyline is a pain in the ass lol
tecnotrec: LOL
tecnotrec: i was askin joe
tecnotrec: you got the GUI
rusticillusion111: well I might could do that
tecnotrec: aight
tecnotrec: does everyone have Office 2000?
rusticillusion111: I think I might at home im not sure
tecnotrec: ***if you want the storyline, its yours
rusticillusion111: I would have to check
rusticillusion111: okay
tecnotrec: aight - its up to you
rusticillusion111: cause thats really going to be a big part of the game
rusticillusion111: cause if the story line sucks then the game will suck
tecnotrec: grrr, my sentances are getting confusing
tecnotrec: exactly
tecnotrec: but, we are in RD here
tecnotrec: *** RD - rough draft ***
rusticillusion111: si
rusticillusion111: I knew what that ment
rusticillusion111: *meant
tecnotrec: when terry designs the GUI then we could look it over - make sugestions on possible changes, or other needed elements
dynamic_zebra: Correcto
tecnotrec: no offense to anyone, because YOU guys will be looking over whatever i do too
rusticillusion111: well the story line might take me a little while
tecnotrec: sorry, screen was just too big, had to turn off voice
rusticillusion111: iver never done this before so
tecnotrec: thats fine
tecnotrec: ive never programmed with C++ before
tecnotrec: its a start
dynamic_zebra: yeah lol me too. i think were all pretty much on the scratchline here
tecnotrec: exactly
tecnotrec: oh, btw terry, I LOVE THIS SONG
tecnotrec: oh, and on top of that, Shareaza is running, but 2 of the 3 will not connect
dynamic_zebra: yeah that just takes a little waiting.
tecnotrec:
dynamic_zebra: if not, make sure all your server types are enabled
tecnotrec: i think i want 'character design' or structural design
dynamic_zebra: oh yeah and im downloading a compiler on that p2p so
rusticillusion111: you seem like you would be better with that trent
tecnotrec: (not the graphics part of it, just the uses of the people / or buildings
rusticillusion111: or both
tecnotrec: terry?
dynamic_zebra: yeah and that book that you have trent? you know they have that in ebook form too? currently also downloading
tecnotrec: OMG
tecnotrec: THAT SUX ASS
tecnotrec: I PAID 50$ FOR IT AND YOUR DOWNLOADING IT
tecnotrec: GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
dynamic_zebra: yeah its like 30 megs
tecnotrec: yeah
tecnotrec: thats ok tho
tecnotrec: im downloading Microsoft XP and Microsoft Visual C++
tecnotrec: (for my 2nd computer)
tecnotrec: they are in .iso form so it will be easier to burn them
tecnotrec: lol
dynamic_zebra: yeah i use winimage
tecnotrec: aight, so me doing those 2 things wont cause no probs w/ nobody?
dynamic_zebra: no objections here..
tecnotrec: CAN I have "character and building design - pre graphics"
rusticillusion111: sure
tecnotrec: cool
tecnotrec: and joe, you desided?
rusticillusion111: story line it is I guess
rusticillusion111: lol
tecnotrec: lol
tecnotrec: aight!
tecnotrec: new changes to the notes will be added soon then!
rusticillusion111: I cant believe you asked if you could have character design
rusticillusion111: thats so funny
dynamic_zebra: oh gawd he would be excellent at that though lol
tecnotrec: why? its OUR project as a whole - if someone thinks its too much for me, then i would respect that
rusticillusion111: why would that be too much
rusticillusion111: lol
rusticillusion111: and yes, Terry, I agree
dynamic_zebra: yeah, malekeith
rusticillusion111: oh ok
tecnotrec: that entails EVERY character that will be in the game - the dragons, how they fly, when they breed, what the look like, with the differances between them being whether they are "Transporting friendly" or "Attacking"
tecnotrec: MaleKeith is dead to that realm
tecnotrec: although his counter part misses it dearly
dynamic_zebra: lol
tecnotrec: but perhaps recreating some of those characters here would be good for me
tecnotrec: as i cant help but to "visualize" that realm daily
rusticillusion111: heh
dynamic_zebra: ok what do you think would be a better form of GUI when it comes to choosing charactors? i was thinking of more of a Suikoden III type of charactor select
dynamic_zebra: you know, use the games main theme as a hook for each charactor ya know?
tecnotrec: thats on you - my initial idea was "Diablo 2" with more character possabilities for options, but when it comes down to it, the GUI is yours to freely design.

Sorry tho, i never played that game
dynamic_zebra: like John Doe likes cats. so we just throw in a couple of cats that react to your cursor select when that charactor is chosen
tecnotrec: sounds cool
dynamic_zebra: or even better, have the charactors that trent made, kinda fade out of the shadows when chosen.
tecnotrec: just remember that im doing - pregraphics
rusticillusion111: good ideas
tecnotrec: i dont know how good i would be with actually creating the graphical element of those characters
rusticillusion111: thats why you put it to the test
dynamic_zebra: already on it for you trent, see my uncle was a drafter and has tons of books on it.
tecnotrec: lol
dynamic_zebra: that should give you info on what software would be best for the job and the most traded stradegies
tecnotrec: Matt should be online in about 40 mins
tecnotrec: (still at work - he is a janitor *floor crew at walmart)
rusticillusion111: aww
tecnotrec: lol
tecnotrec: we all have all have quite the strange jobs - when put up against this project that is
tecnotrec: i mean, take me for instance - WalMart Operator *answer the phones, direct those calls. Run a register. Check in freight for electronics dept. Stock that same freight. Direct other associates to MGNT."
dynamic_zebra: you know what? this is gonna take some real time. the average development team consists of over 120 people if you dont include beta testers lol
tecnotrec: no, not really
tecnotrec: ok - just a sec
tecnotrec: aight
rusticillusion111: how long do you think it will take Trent?
dynamic_zebra: but those are the rich people that can afford to just pay one person for credits, one for this type of graphics versus the other, GUI'S voices, dialogue, etc.
tecnotrec: Neverwinter Nights took 75 FULL TIME EMPLOYEES around 5 years to create (they created EVERYTHING they used for the game from the ground up, instead of paying TINY royalties for using others pre-programmed code - such as the game engine)
tecnotrec: Neverwinter nights sold around 1.2 million coppies
tecnotrec: Bontego - took 4 students 7 1/2 months to create at a total cost of 79$
tecnotrec: sold a little over 1.1 million coppies
tecnotrec: prime examples
tecnotrec: now, i believe we will probably take around 2 years
tecnotrec: considering we are all new to this
dynamic_zebra: yeah let me emphasize "the average" development team. lol. but yes, considering..exactly
tecnotrec: and that is saying that we BUY the game engine
tecnotrec: which, dont worry
tecnotrec: im already on that
tecnotrec: *i will pay its upfront cost if we do it
tecnotrec: *** considering we get Torque
tecnotrec: here, free demo of torque at:
tecnotrec: http://www.garagegames.com
tecnotrec: check it out terry, tell me what you think, since you are on the GUI
tecnotrec: its the last 1 in the 2nd row
dynamic_zebra: alright downloading...
tecnotrec: i thought it was cool
dynamic_zebra: yeah. that ftp's mod ping sux ass though lol
tecnotrec: another we could get is:
tecnotrec: http://www.conitec.net/a4info.htm
tecnotrec: its called 3D GameStudio/A6
tecnotrec: and that one shows some of its comercial made titles
dynamic_zebra: yeah and belive it or not, its gonna turn up the volume on my regular microsoft paint program lol
tecnotrec: USA Bass Championship is one of its biggers
tecnotrec: LOL
tecnotrec: let me know what ya think after you go through its demo
tecnotrec: the difference in price between the 2 game engines is EXACTLY 50$
dynamic_zebra: oh crap, that reminds me, remember that 3d interactive desktop you had me try out trent? i forgot lol. i got a bomb ass graphics card now. where did i get that again?
tecnotrec: LOL
tecnotrec: ill have to look it up again
tecnotrec: is it done downloading?
dynamic_zebra: yeah im currently checking it out
dynamic_zebra: dang! that engine looks so.....i dont know, how do you say...PIMP lol
tecnotrec: LOL
tecnotrec: yeah
tecnotrec: you seen its price there right?
dynamic_zebra: yeah says 100 bucks
tecnotrec: make sure its what you want for the GUI first - be ablsolutely sure it will do what we need it to before i buy it!
tecnotrec: yeah
tecnotrec: not bad at all!
tecnotrec: but i want to be absolutely sure
tecnotrec: did you go through the "orc town"
tecnotrec: ?
dynamic_zebra: not yet. im actually moving kinda slow. im not up to speed yet today lol
tecnotrec: aight
tecnotrec: from the first page click on "feature walktrhough"
dynamic_zebra: lol this thing has the exact controls of half life blue shift
tecnotrec: lol
tecnotrec ponders the meaning of life
tecnotrec: you there joe?
dynamic_zebra: ouch. now thats boredom lol. its asinine how this guy can basically breathe under water
tecnotrec: lol
tecnotrec: its an orc, he was programmed like that
rusticillusion111: yeah im here
tecnotrec: they didnt add too much to the demo > programming wise
tecnotrec: aight
rusticillusion111: Im still watching the conference
rusticillusion111: just busy
dynamic_zebra: yeah. you know, im just quick about being a critic.
tecnotrec: when you do the storyline - how are you going to type it up?
rusticillusion111: hmmmm
rusticillusion111: what would be the best way
rusticillusion111: I would use either microsoft word or office 2000 though ive never used that
tecnotrec: text mode on geocities.com, Microsoft Word, text editors such as notepad or wordpad, basically - any way you want to
rusticillusion111: K
rusticillusion111: thats what It hought
tecnotrec: i would reccomend Word, because its awsome
tecnotrec: lol
rusticillusion111: I love word
tecnotrec: yeah, i know that Terry
rusticillusion111: :
rusticillusion111:
tecnotrec:
dynamic_zebra: yeah and try some music for mood changes in the middle of your writing. believe it or not, it can trace you
tecnotrec: yeah
rusticillusion111: oh okay
tecnotrec: terry - are you refering to him *listening* to music, or *in-writing* music?
tecnotrec: *** in-writing = writing music into the storyline ***
dynamic_zebra: hell, it would be a good idea for both.
dynamic_zebra: not unless someone else is doing the music scheme
tecnotrec: at this point - nobody
tecnotrec: at this point the only RD development progression is what WE have decided IN THIS CONFERENCE
dynamic_zebra: yeah. what im saying is if you need a charactor sad, why not make yourself feel the same way so you can write better. you know like acting
rusticillusion111: ahhh
rusticillusion111: well writting sad depressive stuff is no prob for me
rusticillusion111: lol
tecnotrec: ooh, on the lines of acting - joe would be perfect!
rusticillusion111: writting period should be relatively easy
tecnotrec: thats a good thing though, right?
dynamic_zebra: ok guys gtg duty calls.
tecnotrec: aight
tecnotrec: ttyl
rusticillusion111: TTYL Terry
dynamic_zebra: yep ditto folks
Yahoo! Messenger: dynamic_zebra has left the conference.
tecnotrec: aight, closing the conference
