The Tecumseh Rotary Veterans Memorial

Tecumseh Oklahoma
Honor Bestowed BRICK by BRICK
...a tribute to soldiers who fought America's battles in the 20th Century.
The Tecumseh Rotary Club' Veterans Memorial honors loved ones who served our country in World War I, World War II, the Korean Conflict, Vietnam, and later conflicts of the Twentieth Century.  Brave names go down in history with bricks placed in the walls of the Veterans Memorial.  Bricks are not exclusive to veterans.  What a great way to preserve family names and businesses in a timeless Tecumseh landmark.

It is located in the lot south of Tecumseh City Hall.  The monument/mini-park features raised walls containing the memorial bricks so that they will not be walked upon.  Plantings, benches, flags and the beautiful central monument make it a peaceful site to rest and contemplate.

Barbara Hertz, a well-known artist, has sculptured four bronze busts depicting the “Four Faces of Freedom”.  They are displayed on the grey granite central monument.
Ruben Rivers is Pottawatomie County's Silver Star and Medal of Honor recepient and is honored for his service in France. In 1978--33 years after the end of World War II--the 761st Tank Battalion received a Presidential Unit Citation. In 1997, 53 years after giving his life on the battlefield, Sergeant Ruben Rivers was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor.
