The ratings board for the video game industry announced a new category last week whose target is aimed at tweens. The "E10+" rating (shown below) fills the gap in between the "E" and "T" ratings by defining a rating for kids 10-12. According to the ESRB (Entertainment Software Ratings Board), games with this rating "have content that may be suitable for ages 10 and over, and may contain cartoon, fantasy, or mild violence, mild language, and/or minimal suggestive themes." Hopefully this new rating will help parents to decipher what's right and wrong for their children to be playing and for gamemakers to be able to convey what age their game targets. |
