SIBLINGS Ted is the youngest of five siblings. . The eldest brother was Sander Raimi, who was selected to go on a scholarship trip to Israel at the age of fifteen, but then drowned in a swimming pool accident while he was there. The second eldest brother is Ivan Raimi, who is an emergency-room doctor and a writer. Ted's third eldest brother is Sam Raimi, who is a producer, director, actor, screenwriter and co-founder of Renaissance Pictures. Ted's sister is Andrea Raimi, who is a lawyer who has worked in some high profiled cases. |
PARENTS Ted's mother is the founder of her own chain of women's lingerie stores in southeastern Michigan. She is said to have been the one that got Ted interested in movies since she had been an actress. She is also said to be Ted's best critic and she is the one he goes to for some honest criticism. Ted's father ran a furniture store and appliance store that his grandfather had established. He is said to be quite smart and encouraged Ted and his sibling to read, think and ask questions. Originally Ted's father didn't like the idea of Ted becoming an actor but has since then changed his opinion. |
EDUCATION Ted studied performing arts at Oakland Community College, Michigan State University, New York University and the University of Detroit Mercy. Along with studying theater, he also starred in a few plays. |
CHOOSING A JOB Ted had a choice between a successful fashion career or a furniture career since his mother owned a chain of lingerie shops and his father had his own home furnishing stores. He made a career decision not to follow the family business but instead to become an actor. |
STARTING OUT Ted first started entertaining in high school as a DJ. He also spent time entertaining his aunts and uncles with his impressions. |
STARTING A CAREER Ted started his acting career by appearing in a series of industrial films in the Motor City. His unique acting ability landed him in a variety of roles playing both good guys and villians in television and in movies. He enjoys playing villians or out of the ordinary roles because of the challenge. |
PERSONALITY Ted is known to be a standup comedian because of his sense of humor and cheerfulness. He is known to be very funny and sociable with people he meets. He is willing to talk to anyone. He is a very down to earth person and is said to be quite humble when it comes to his fans. |
A WRITER Ted also writes screenplays along with his acting. He co-wrote the script for an episode of SeaQuest called "LOSTLAND". He has also written scripts in the series Xena: Warrior Princess. He especially likes to write scripts for horror films. |
