All About
Teddy Bear Daycare

Teddy Bear Daycare was established in August of 1992 and became Nationally Accredited September 2002.
I am a mother of two, and have numerous hours of training.
I care for children ages 6 weeks to 12 years, and offer
preschool to ages 18 months to 5 years. I also
accept children with special needs in care,
which is somewhat hard to find.

Teddy Bear Daycare is run solely out of the lower level of
my home which has been finished for daycare usage.
It consists of a full service kitchen, full bath, dining
room/learning room, and a big rec room where
different areas are set up to learn and play.
There is a housekeeping area, blocks and
trucks, puzzles and books, dress up
items and much more.

MEALS

I will provide am and pm snacks. Lunches need to be provided by you the parent.  Please don't allow your child to bring candy, cookies, etc. into the daycare unless there is enough of the item for all the children. And I prefer that they also not bring sodas! Also I will charge $2 for any lunch that I make due to forgetting their lunch. I will not let a child go hungry. Meal schedule:

Am Snack 9:30
Lunch 10:45-11:20 and 12:00-12:30 pm
Pm Snack 4:00 pm

BEHAVIOR AND DISCIPLINE

I ask that the children follow some basic rules while in my care. They are pretty simple:

A. Have a positive attitude
B. Be respectful of others and our environment
C. Be polite and show good manners and respect for others
D. No yelling- use a voice that is appropriate
E. No hitting of any kind
F. No name calling or teasing of others

Basically treat others, as you would expect to be treated yourself.   If your child should be disciplined at home for any reason please do not ask me to withhold any activities or keep the child from playing with others. I do also ask that you work with me on the manners! I've found if we as adults use them with the children, they'll pick up on them with ease! Consistent by all is very important!! I am also trying to redirect the child in a positive way to prevent Time Outs! W
hen I see a child is getting aggressive I may ask that child to come read a book with me or to do an activity alone until they can collect themselves instead of hurting another child! I believe in allowing a child to express their feelings in a safe healthy manner.

All About Terry...
I married my sole mate David in March of 1989. We had our first child
Tyler in May of 1990 and our 2nd bundle of joy Kevin in March of 1998.
I 'm the President of the St. Mary's County Family Daycare Association
and a member of the Maryland State Association.  I am also a
member of my Local Rescue Squad Auxiliary.

I enjoy boating, planting flowers, reading to my children, as well as
scrapbooking (Creative Memory style).  I also enjoy
spending time with my family.

I have always had a passion for children of all ages, so this carrer
choice is a dream come true for me!  It's rewarding in so many ways.

We live on 2 acres that is in the middle of 50, private beautiful acres.  I
have a large yard for the children to enjoy their playtime outside on! We
have a big wooden playset, and a Little Tikes 8 in 1 adjustable play gym
that the children love! We also have many Little Tikes cars as well as the
wooden playhouse with a sandbox near by for those who like to dig!!!!
We enjoy spending our time in the morning and afternoons out there!

I began doing daycare when a family of a preemie infant came to me via the
same home health care nurse we were also using for our only son at that
time. Since I'd already gone through the medical training for the Infant CPR
and was familiar with the monitor, I decided to become licensed to take care
of this little one! I went from that one tiny baby to now a total of 9 daycare
children in all! Never more than 7 here at any given time though.
I have some who are here in the mornings just for the
Preschool Program which works out great!

Since I opened back in August of 1992 I've never had a problem with
keeping a full house, still to this day I have families on a
waiting list to get their child/ren in to my program.

The best part of my job as a Daycare Provider is, the fact of being able to
stay home to raise our 2 boys! I could not have chosen a better
career, it's like having your cake and eating it too.
