Chicago Tribune Tempo Article on Act 4
Fans who packed the Metro Saturday night for a Smashing Pumpkins tribute concert got more than just three-plus hours of music for their money.  They got to see Billy Corgan again --- he was in the balcony with his father --- and they got some long-awaited news from the former Pumpkins front man when he stepped on stage to introduce the evening's headliners, Kill Hannah.....
-William Hageman

The article goes on to discuss the announcments billy made at the show concerning future Pumpkins releases.

KH mentioned in MTV.com article
In an article about Act 4, Kill Hannah was briefly mentioned as the headliner at the July 7th Tribute show.  Go to MTV.com and search for "smashing pumpkins" news.

KH pays respect to Pumpkins!
Last Saturday, July 7th, Kill Hannah took the metro stage to honor the greatest rock band to ever emerge from the city of Chicago.  The set was absolutely amazing.  Starting off with a wonderfully played version of Stand Inside Your Love and then continuing on with a stunning version of Snail, Kill Hannah had the crowd completely pumped just in time to expose the Pumpkinhead audience to some of their own work.  The crowd jumped up and down as they blasted through Kennedy.  Mat complimented the crowd and then introduced the song 10 more minutes with you.  They were playing as loud as i've ever heard them and the song seemed to have an edge that i either hadn't noticed before, or was just never there.  During the song mat let out a soaring scream that made me remember billy's days of rocking out and abusing the mike with his vocals.  They finished off with a solid rendition of Cherub Rock.  As the fans streamed down the metro stairs i handed out flyers with zach.  I think it's safe to say it's the most excitment i've ever seen people express while handing out flyers to them.  Everyone seemed very excited about the new band they'd just been exposed to.  This is good news for the show on the 27th.  It looks as if it will be packed and full of life.

SummerFest in Milwaukee, July 6th!
On the eve of Act IV Kill Hannah headed North of the boarder to play the world famous Milwaukee Summerfest.  They played for roughtly an hour before a surprising amount of fans.  The set list was a throwback to "middle school" KH.  They opened with Stunt pilots, a song I have not seen them open with in at least a year.  From there they went into Hyperactive, yet another great, yet underplayed song.  The insanity did not stop there as they busted into their ever dreamy Don't die Wondering.  As the evening went on they played All That He Wants, Crybaby, Kennedy, Boyz & Grrrlz, Ten More Minutes With You, and Nerve Gas.  The final song was Welcome to Chicago Motherfucker.  Matt changed the lyrics half way into the song to Welcome to Milwaukee.  In closing the show was well worth the 2-hour drive, $10 for parking and $10 to enter.

June 23rd! @ Metro
Kill Hannah was welcomed with cheers as they took the stage Saturday night.  Just like they would have on any other night in the metro.  Saturday June 23rd was different however.  It was MOB fest, and all of the hopes and dreams of a year were riding on the chance that a industry scout might like what they saw.  It seemed as if the added element put a kind of nervous tension upon the crowd.  Many knew how important the night was.  Perhaps many had given too much thought.  The feeling that goes behind every other KH show wasn't there.  The night didn't seem care free.  The night seemed like business.

The tension broke as the the digital background mix for sick boy hit the speakers.  The crowd roared and the band bounded around.  Throughout the whole set, the band was energetic.  The crowd responded willingly to their stage tricks and attention grabbers.  Anyone could tell that the band owned the metro that night.  It's been their home for the past 5 or so years, and that night was no different.

Musically the band was great.  The sound quality sounded good and even the backing vocals were heard for a change.  Every single drum beat and guitar riff was pulled off with perfection, and the set list was set to impress any new onlookers.

The energy that night seemed inhibited by the importance of the event.  There was however pleanty of jumping and singing along.  At one point during Nerve Gas it was as if the audience clicked and formed together as one.  The feeling was nice to have at a time where the old fans are slowly getting used to the idea of the multitudes of new faces that seem to pour into the metro each month for the latest kh show.

Whether the band makes it big or not, there's no doubt in my mind that many of us will look back at these times with fond thoughts.  Kh isn't just a band.  It's a way to escape and be with people you can relate to.  Sick boys, crybabies, and girls who can't keep their eyes off the stars.  If we're going to feel alive young and terrified, we might as well do it together.

June 13th! @ House Of Blues

Review from Mike Hendzel

Like Always I will start out with shout-outs to my peepz.... Katie-Her Sister-SETH-Most Jamm'n One-Irene-and to everyone else... Sup!///Ok now it's time to review.  First the set list:
Kennedy
SICK Boy
Crybaby
Nerve gas
Boyz and Grrrlz
10 min.
American Jet Set
Welcome to Chicago
So the show was one of the best I've seen in a while.  The set list as you can see is about 2 or 3 songs short of a Metro set list.  Mainly Big Shot and They can't save us now were missing.  They sounded better than the last metro show.
Sidenotes & Fun Facts
Jon played the sickboy solo on guitar instead of the traditional synth.
How did those underagers get in, I know there are some good tales out there.
It was a Starstudded audience: Chris Holmes, Ben&SETH of MarvelKind, and Tamar Berk of Starball.
Veruca Salt was ok.  I miss the old days with Nina

May 25th! @ Metro

All in all it was a wonderful performance.  In my one year history of viewing the band i'd have to say it was the best i've ever seen them.  Each member was very energetic, and seemed to be comitted to putting on a good show.  The house for some reason did not seem as packed as it has been for past shows, but there was a lot of positive crowd energy.  Positive that is if you don't include the fools who attempt to crowd surf, and end up falling on their heads.  The ste list in no particular oder is as follows.
Ten Minutes With You
Big Shot
Kennedy
Sick Boy
All That He Wants
Welcome to Chicago
Crybaby
Nerve Gas
Boys and Girls
Stunt Pilots                              (if i missed one let me know)
I was very impressed with Ten Minutes With You.  The other songs were spectacular.  The band was in synch, and mat's vocals sounded great.  Oh yeah, and one more thing to add.  I think this is the first time i've ever seen under garments on stage before the band took the floor.  Somebody had a blown condom, and that seemed very absurd to me.

April 27th @ Metro
!
April 27th, saw the quintet in perfect form back at the venue they call home.  Marvel Kind opened the show, and while they certainly got things off to a cherry start, their act is starting to wear thin.  It's just my opinion, but i think they've started to become too cute for their own good.  They've had two opening slots with Kill Hannah, and they're going to have to try something new besides flashing lights if they want to gain a following there.  At the end of their set they qcknowledged Sister Machine Gun and barely anyone said a word.  But when they announced Kill Hannah the place erupted in cheering - need I say more?
The Set List:
I Wanna be a Kennedy
Sick Boy
Crybaby
Ten More Minutes with You [new song[
Boys and Girls
Nerve Gas
American Jet Set (All That He Wants)
Welcome to Chicago
KH only had forty-five minutes onstage, but they made the best of it.  "Ten More Minutes with You' is a new song which sounds catchy enough and will hopefully be recorded sometime soon.  It leans a little more toward a pop sound for Kill Hannah but it still packs enough dour glamour to get the crowd moving.  The live version of "Boys and Girls" has a neat disco sound to it, so if you havn't been to a show where they've played it then you're missing out.  While "Don't Die Wondering" and "A New Medicine" were missing from the set, the band both started and ended with their best new songs, and that alone was worth smashing my knees into the gate.

March 11th @ The Metro
!
Once again Kill Hannah pulled out all of the stops for their latest show at the Metro.  The floor was packed early considering it was a Sunday night.  It's definatly looking up for the band.
Sporting the individual look again, the band went through an amazing set that included Big Shot, and Boyz and Grrrlz.  Boyz and Grrrlz is a newer version of an older song.  It sounded great, and some of the old school kill hannah fans i know were happy to hear it again.  Big Shot sounded wonderful as well.  Matt did not sing the "i want to be with you," line from the chorus for some reason.
Many believe that Sunday's show was probably the best show kill hannah has ever played.  The evening was slightly disrupted by rough crowd surfers.  It made some leave the show on a sour note, but the vast majority were not affected.  As an added bonus, Billy Corgan and Chris Holmes were at the show.  Hopefully the band will be getting some helpful input from the former Chicago mega rock star

January 12th @ The Rave
!
The show was in an area no bigger than your average bar.  The stage was roughly 3-4 feet off of the ground and the sound was good.  The show was set for 8pm but KH didn't go on till around 8:45.  Kill Hannah opened the show with AJS (all that he wants) then went into Sick Boy.  During Sick Boy Matt's guitar wasn't working and the keyboards volume wasn't set right on the main board.  Next was Nerve Gas with [Here Are The] Young Moderns lyrics.  Tech problem 2: Dan didn't have his second guitar ready in time for the Slide in the beginning of Nerve Gas.  This is all I remember as far as the setlist order went everything after her is from what I think the order was.  Next I believe came the ever beautiful New Heart for X-mas.  Then they played Don't Die Wondering.  Followed by the somewhat retro sounding They Can't Save Us Now.  Next was Crybaby and the set ending Welcome to Chicago Mother Fucker.
The show was awesome and I would recomend you attend any future show at this personal venue.  I spent most of the second set talking with Ben from Marvel Kind.  Sweet 13 left me unimpressed.  Marvel Kind opened with the song of the same title yet like Kill Hannah were not allowed a sound check before their set.  Needless to say much wackiness ensued.  2 of the three mic's were not working and this was only discovered in the middle of the song.  The second keyboard was not set at the right volume either.  After a good yet problem plagued set that also included drug machine and cherry wine Ben handed out free copies of the Mini E.P. and the limited pressed christmas album.  So that was my fun adventure into the city to the North.  The best part was getting to talk with Matt Greg and Dan from KH as well as Ben and Electro from MK.  A good night was had by all.  I would just like to give a quick what up to everyone I saw/talked to at the show Reo, Steph, ect.

January 6th 2001 @ the Double Door
!
Kill Hannah kicked off the new year and official milenium with a 21+ show at the Double Door in Chicago.  Due to the age restrictions i was not able to attend, but here are some qoutes.

"Sporting NO uniforms...the boyz looked and sounded great! Greg is such a crowd pleaser..he has this way of getting the crowd WILD...and he along with the rest of the boys did just that!"

"They opened the show with Def Leppard's 'Photograph' fading out in a the background and then Mat dedicated 'Sick Boy' to Def Leppard"

"The show was outstanding! BRAVO! I hope all you underagers got to watch it via WebCast.  Plastic and Monster Trucks kicked too! I was impressed totally!"

November 17th @ The Metro
!
As always, Kill Hannah @ the Metro last Friday was a wonderful experience.  Despite being cold outside, the band brought plenty of heat to the stage. Jon and Dan burned up their guitar strings on such favorites as "Crybaby" and "Kennedy," and of course Greg performed excellently on the bass while looking as he always does on stage; as if he's having the time of his life.  He really seems to enjoy playing live.  Matt toyed with the crowd "so you guys had to pay this time... I'm sorry.. you're filthy, filthy little brats tonight."  Garrett as always was strong on the drums.
A special treat that evening was the unveiling of a new song called "They can't save us now."  Matt introduced it by saying that "it probably relates to everyone here."  Definitely a very catchy song.  At first I wasn't too into it, but after listening to it a few times on the bootleg my friend made the song has really grown on me.  I can't stop singing it now.
Later on after an energetic run through of "Welcome to Chicago..," the band walked off stage.  A Metro staff member walked up on stage and reminded us of how lucky we are to have such a great venue to see bands at.  He introduced the band and they walked back on stage to play "Stunt Pilots.
