                  Marching Band

Marching Band is basically my entire life here at Southridge. Being a senior, I've been with the Southridge High School Marching Band since the beginning. Our first year's show was entitled "The Legend of Zorro" and included hit music from the motion picture The Mask of Zorro.  Next up we had the Starlight Parade, in which we marched the songs "Hey Pachuco" and "Proud Mary".   This is what I think of the Starlight Parade: Starlight Parade. Never again should we have to march it.
Sophomore year, our show was called "Outback Holiday."  The music was fun, and Australian based.   We even had two people on didgeridoo.  Last year, our show was "The Dream of Oenghus", which most people mispronounced as Oh-eng-gu-hus.  But that's enough about Marching Band.   Let's hear about some of the other things I like.

   STAR WARS

Star Wars has been one of my favorite things since I was about 121/2.   I'm 17 now, so 41/2 years of my life have been devoted to Star Wars.  I am not really sure why I like it so much.   I guess it's just because all of them were such great movies.  I guess what really got me into the Star Wars universe was the book Heir to the Empire.  Since then, I have collected almost all of the Star Wars novels, with the exception of some of the newest ones.  Most of them I have in paperback, but some special ones, such as the prequel books I have in hardcover.

     Dragon Ball Z

A couple of years ago, I fell upon a very interesting television program entitled "Dragon Ball Z".   The show follows a man named Goku.   He trains and becomes the most powerful fighter in the universe.   He has a friend named Krillin, and a son named Gohan, after his grandfather.   The show involves him saving the universe many times over, and contains many battles.   The whole reason most things are happening is because of the Dragon Balls.   There are 7 Dragon Balls on Earth, and when you get them together, the Eternal Dragon, Shenron appears and grants you one wish.   With that wish, you can even bring someone back from the dead, as is what happened to many people in the Dragon Ball Z world.   However, the evil people (Frieza, Garlic Jr., and Cell, among others) want to use the Dragon Balls to wish for immortality.   It's quite possibly one of the best Japanimation shows ever, and new episodes start September 16th!   I can't wait.
