Butterfly Butterfly

This is what we will be making

For this tutorial you will need

PSP7
A Butterfly tube (this works better with a butterfly that
has its wings half folded)
a water drop tube (I used the standard psp7 tube)
Flaming Pear's - Flood
VM natural Here

Ok! Lets begin

1. open tube(s)

2. open new canvas 400 x 400 transparent

3. choose floodfill tool, set foreground to pattern, glacier, settings 250, angle 0, floodfill your canvas

4. Effects - plug ins - flaming pear, flood use these settings

5. duplicate the layer, choose your lasso tool, set to freehand, feather 2, draw a wavy line from one edge to the other and all the way round the top of your canvas, see screenshot

(please ignore the fact that the butterfly is in this picture already,
I forgot to do a screenshot, this is just to show you where the marching ants should be)
then hit the cut button.
Hide layer 1.
Deselect

6. Copy your tube and paste as new layer.
Now on your layer palette move layer 2 between layer 1 and copy of layer 1, unhide layer 1, using your mover tool, position butterfly so that is looks like it is half in the water, then lower the opacity slightly on copy of layer 1 to about 75, this is what you should have.

Now merge visible all layers

7. choose your retouch tool, set it to smudge, use these settings,

move your brush in small circles over the top part of the image to make it look a little more like clouds.

8. Create new raster layer, Copy your tube and paste as new selection several times.
After each paste resize, rotate, or mirror your tube so you end up with a few different sized butterflies facing different directions.

9. Deselect and merge visible all layers

10. choose your lasso tool, set to freehand, feather 2, antialias checked, and draw a shape similar to this across your butterfly

11. Effects - plug ins - VM natural, splash, you will have to play around with the settings until you get it how you want it but I would suggest not to have the frequency's 1 & 2 too high, I set mine to 4 and 5.

12. Deselect

13. Create new raster layer

14. Choose your tube tool and select the water drop or copy and paste mine as new selection as many times as necessary.
place the drops so that they look like they have splashed up as the butterfly hit the water.
(If using my drop, once you have them all placed, you will need to colorize them so they look a bit greyer to match the water)

15. now grab your retouch tool again, same settings as before and smudge your drops slightly.

16. create new raster layer, add any copyright information and your own watermark if using one.

17. create new raster layer, add your text. I added a sculpture effect to mine, and a drop shadow at v/h 3 opacity 100 blur 4.9, then again at v/h minus 3

18. Merge all

19. Image - picture frames - photo edge05 - check the frame outside box
