Starring - Andy lau - Rosamund Kwan - Shirley Kwan. Director - David Lai / Corey Yuen. Manga in motion fantasy. Great action and choreography. 8********stars. SHANGHAI AFFAIRS. Starring - Donnie Yen - Athena Chu - Yu Rong Gwong - Chan Chin Pang. Director - Donnie Yen. Adequate story with some great martial arts but more often than not are annoyingly short. 6******stars. SHANGHAI NOON. Starring - Jackie Chan - Owen Wilson - Lucy Lui - Roger yuan. Director - Tom Dey. 2 good fight scenes surrounded by a crap film. Yu Rong Gwong is sat in here unused as well? 3***stars. SHAOLIN WHEEL OF LIFE. Starring - The students of Shaolin Temple. Director - Nick Morris. Live stage show depicting the tale of Shaolin's near downfall. Incredible!!! 9*********stars. SIXTY MILLION DOLLAR MAN. Starring - Stephen Chiao - Gigi Leung - Ng Man Tat. Director - Yip Wai Man. Disappointing comedy fare from Chiao. More bizzare than comical. 5*****stars. TAI CHI 2. Starring - Jacky Wu - Sibelle Hu - Christy Chung - Billy Chow. Director - Yuen Woo Ping. Dont watch this for the story - you've seen it all before. The fighting is the big seller here. 7*******stars. TESTSUO THE IRON MAN. Starring - Tomori Taguchi - Kei fujiwara - Nobu Kanaoko. Director - Shinya Tsukamoto. Absolutely mental black and white movie about a guy with a fetish for sharp metallic objects. 8********stars, THE ASSASSIN. Starring - Mok Siu Chung - Rosamund Kwan. Director - Cheng Siu Hung. Hardcore swordplay movie. Highly recommended. 10**********stars. THE BLADE. Starring - Zhou When Zhou - Ngai Sing. Diretor - Tsui Hark. Very violent swordplay movie with an amazing end sequence. 9*********stars. THE EAST IS RED - SWORDSMAN 3. Starring - Brigitte Lin - Yu Rong Gwong - Joey Wong - Eddie Ko. Director - Chin Siu Tung. Invincible Asia returns. An amazing wire fu spectacular. Phenomenal. 10**********stars. THE KILLER. Starring - Chow Yun Fat - Danny Lee. Director - John Woo. Great Cinematography, great action, great acting. A classic John Woo film. 9*********stars. THE LEGEND OF ZU. Starring - Ekin Cheng - Cecillia Cheung - Sammo Hung. Director - Tsui Hark. One for the SFX fans. Not a patch on the original, but still good fun. 7*******stars. THE MISSION. Starring - Simon Yam - Roy Cheung - Francis Ng. Director - Johnnie To. Highly entertaining gun play / action movie with a good plot to boot. 8********stars. THE PRISONER - ISLAND ON FIRE. Starring - Jackie Chan - Sammo Hung - Andy Lau - Tony Leung. Director - Chu Yen Ping. If you go in with your brain switched off you should be ok. Mediocre at best. 5*****stars. THE RING 2. Starring - Nakatani Miki - Sanada Hiroyuki. Director - Hideo Nakata. Japanese horror film, expertly shot and very well told. Genuinely scarey. 9*********stars. THUNDERBOLT. Starring - Jackie Chan - Anita Yuen - Michael Wong - Ken Lo. Director - Gordan Chan. Chan et al fight their way through this feisty little number. Why is Ken Lo not a star? 8********stsrs. TOKYO FIST. Starring - Kahori FuJii - Kohjii Tsukamoto - Shinya Tsukamoto. Director - Shinya Tsukamoto. Extremely intense Japanese Boxing movie. Hardcore fans will love it. 7*******stars. TRIPLE CROSS. Starring - Sonny Chiba - Keichi Hagiwara - Kazuya Kimura. Director - Kinji Fukasaku. Violent gunplay from the director of Battle Royale. 6******stars. |
