THE EAGLE SHOOTING HEROES
Starring - Tony Leung - Maggie Cheung - Jacky Cheung - Brigitte Lin.
Directed by - Jeffrey Lau

The Queen of Golden Wheel Kingdom and her lover Oh Yang Fong attempt to usurp the king. After torturing the king with a rather large centipede they discover that The Royal Jade Seal ( which is necessary in gaining the throne) is being safeguarded by the 3rd Princess. After a hilarious fight scene the Princess flees on the Precious Han-Shei Horse and heads straight to her master Jo-Kong Immortal Taoist to seek help. Oh Yang Fong aqquires the Invincible Flying Shoes and gives chase.
Meanwhile Ma-Ju a master who has been in isolation practicing Kung Fu for 5 years is inadvertantly  killed by a stray Flying Shoe. Uncle Chou (a woman) and the Chen Jen Disciples mistakenly identify the 3rd Princess as the murderer unknowing of her real identity and also take up the chase.
This all happens within the first 15 minutes and the movie continues at the same lightning pace throwing in new plot elements left, right and centre.
A period wire film with some serious comedy, this is one of my personal favourites. The comedy is non stop and is totally in your face and the action is incredible with some seriously inventive wire work, the martial arts on display are also of a high standard even though it has been speeded up. Sammo Hung as action director has done a marvelous job with the wire fu and he left me rewinding constantly to rewatch scenes. The all star cast also do a fantastic job and play their respective roles well and make this film that much more compelling. My only complaint with the film is the sometimes overly confusing storyline, bear with it though and you find a gem of a movie that doesnt take itself too seriously and thoroughly entertains constantly.
However be warned this is definately not a movie to be viewed if you are new to Asian cinema as some of the comedy is very Chinese and the action is of such a fast pace it would be hard for any newcomer to keep up.
