THE ONE
Starring - Jet lee - Delroy Lindo - Jason Statham - Carla Gugino.
Director - James Wong.

There are 125 different variations of Gabe Law each situated in their own alternate universe. Together these parallel universes combine to form the Multiverse. Scientists have developed a way to traverse across these universes using wormholes.
Gabrielle Law has used the wormholes to murder 123 variations of himself; he is charged and is sentenced to life imprisonment at the penal colony in the Hades universe. With the aid of an exploding mouse, Gabrielle evades his punishment and immediately jumps a wormhole to Los Angeles. His final target is Gabe Law of the LA Sheriffs department. For each variation of Gabrielle Law that is killed, a part of his energy is divided and split between the other remaining Gabrielle Law’s.  Scientists have deduced that if only one of the variations remains then one of three possibilities would occur. The multiverse will either implode, explode or the remaining variation would become godlike. ‘The One’!
The men appointed to prevent this from happening are Rodecker who has been chasing Gabrielle since the first murder two years ago, and Funsch a rookie to the chase.
I am not a big fan of Americanised action movies and so I went into this expecting to be disappointed. However I was pleasantly surprised. A decent story is played out by some great actors with each doing a good job with their characters, from the extremely intense Jet lee to the highly underrated Delroy Lindo. My only disappointment here was the amazingly bad accent provided by the highly credible Jason Statham. Jason is a great actor and would have been better suited using his own voice.
The bullet time action sequences as first seen in The Matrix are adequately done, but they are frankly not in the same class, that is up until the catwalk scene. You know when you get that feeling when a righteous act is about to happen, like when Gregoire in the fantastic Brotherhood of the wolf takes it upon himself to avenge his fallen comrade Mani, that feeling, that fuck me! Here we go! Feeling. Well this is what I felt when Gabrielle and Gabe finally get it on. Expert choreography and beautiful camerawork set to a fantastic backdrop with a great score, this scene really picks up the pace. This movie has to be seen just for this sequence, it is outstanding and extremely memorable.
My biggest gripe relates to the identical choice of clothing (right down to the vest) for both Jet Lee’s characters.  This is an uncanny coincidence and plays heavily in the finale. I hate coincidences like this in movies.
The One is an above average action movie that will be remembered most for it’s great Jet Vs Jet catwalk scene.
