To The Limit is a 35-minute IMAX® film about the wonders of the human
body. Premiering in 1989, the film marked the first collaboration of NOVA,
MacGillivray Freeman Films and the Museum Film Network, a consortium of 14
international science museums. The film focuses on human body performance
through the stories of three athletes: rock climber Tony Yaniro, downhill skier
Maria Walliser, and ballerina Nina Ananiashvili. Innovative microscopic
photography shows how their bodies respond to their quest for a personal best.
The film has been a resounding critical and popular success: since its debut,
To The Limit has been seen by an estimated 13 million people, and
received the Grand Prize at La Géode, the International Film Festival
for IMAX® films.
