On Rally, we do it
"Side-ways...."

There are types of rally drivers. The one who rolled, and the who .
Hello there...
As a rally enthusiast, I think I have the obligation to tell the
world what a rally is.
What is Rally?
Rally is the most exciting, demanding, and satisfying type of
motorsport. It is a race against the clock, your opponent,
nature, and against yourself.
(Well, sometimes you have to fight with your navigator as
well....)
On the simplest way, Rally is a "Real Car, Run Real Fast, On a Real Road."
Driving in a rally event is like driving a car during winter
season, except MUCH faster!
On rally, we always do it "Side ways."
Unlike racing on a circuit, where after 10 laps or so you will
memorize all the turns exactly, on rally there are no second
chance. You don't know what is ahead of you. Well, sort of. The
navigator will tell you what the road is likely ahead of you. The
navigator has a pace note, which describe what kind of roads you
are heading to. For example, he or she tells you this: "100
left, uphill, max." That means 100 meters you turn left and
then the road will go uphill, and you have to floor the gas. You
just have to do exactly what he/she tells you.
No argument, what so ever. Trusting each other is very important
here.
Imagine driving as fast as you can on a very narrow road with
trees around you. A little mistake would not be accepted.
Some of modern rally cars are Ford Escort RS Cosworth (which you
will not see on US street), Subaru Impreza 4X4, Mitsubishi Lancer
Evolution III (where were you when they made evolution I and
II?), Toyota Celica GT4, and Lancia Delta Integrale. The are many
more, but these are the leading competitors. These are real cars,
not a fake car like NASCAR. Rally cars are a REAL car. After some
modification of course...
World Rally Championship is conducted all around the world. (That
is why it's called WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP.)
I am so proud to say that my country, Indonesia, is hosting one
of the World Rally Championship series. And we are committed to
keep it that way.
Bravo IMI, (Indonesian Motorsport Association)
By the way I am a student here in Washington D.C. Since I can't
afford to run a rally with my limited budget, I have to satisfy
my rally appetite by running Time-Speed-Distance rally, which
doesn't require much speed (oh yeah?). So here I am, a member of
a Time Speed Distance Rally club, in Washington D.C., Branded
Rally Club. I compete on almost every TSD rally event, and got
lucky on some of the events to take some trophies home. That's
all for now.
See you in the woods.....
100, Sharp right, 200 jump, 150 chicane left, 100 finish.
