Special thanks to Chris Hall for the picture :)

Abraham's Wife (Sara & Sara) is Sara Ferguson and Sara White's duet project. We're also affectionately called Abe's Babes by Sara F's mother. At present we are on a hiatus. But God has blessed us so richly through the time that he has given us together, and we are confident that whatever lies ahead will be to His glory.

Abraham's Wife gave their first performance in June 2004 at Vector Marketing's Teen Night. The past year has included various open mic nights at Borders (Oviedo), St. Cloud Presbyterian Church, and Natura Coffee & Tea (Orlando). We gave longer performances at the Sanlando United Methodist Fall Festival, Annunciation's Lifestock X-mas 2004, and Grace Presbyterian Church's Christmas Banquet. We've experimented with bongos, a xylophone, a keyboard, bottles of pills (for lack of a shaker), etc, in accompanying the guitar. Abraham's Wife was blessed with the opportunity to to some semi-professional recording before our hiatus, which we will hopefully pick up at a later date in order to release a demo. :)

The single goal of Abraham's Wife is to glorify our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Our music serves as a springboard for ministry, and it's been so cool (even in only three shows' time) getting to see how God uses us- even if it's simply a matter of the music setting off a spiritual conversation with someone, or encouraging people to think about faith and God's active presence in their lives. We also simply have a passion for music that the Lord has given us, and are having a blast persuing it together just to see where He'll take us. We have no idea where that will be, but we're walking by faith as we learn and grow as musicians and as girls of God.

Short explanation of the name Abraham's Wife: In the Bible, Abraham and his wife Sarah left their homeland and everything familiar to them because God called them. The Lord promised Abraham, "I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you." [Genesis 12:2-3] In spite of their flaws and mess-ups along the way, Abraham and Sarah were faithful to God's calling and God kept His covenant with them. It is in this spirit of following God's call even in our imperfection that the Sara-duet of Abraham's Wife proceeds on our musical and spiritual journey.

The other component of what we stand for (symbolism beyond the mere association of our name's with Sarah's) is the Biblical definition of a woman of the Lord. Proverbs 31:10-31 gives us this definition. Although both of us are far from marriage right now, we live towards the description of a godly wife in our everyday lives and look to Christ alone in the question of relationships. In living towards marriage we know that God will bless and sanctify our marriages someday so we can stand beside our respective "Abrahams" with pure love, support, and confidence- as the wife of noble character in Proverbs does: She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue...Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: "Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all." Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. [Proverbs 31:25-26,28-30]
