So You Wanna be Famous?
Or at Least, You Want Your Troop to Be!
Hello everyone!
Please allow me to introduce myself, I am the PR Specialist for SU#155. I
would love to help you promote your Girl Scout Troop. (but I need your help to do it) Please read on for details.....
My job is to make sure that activities are promoted in the local newspapers and/or magazines as
well as in Tejas Council publications. I do NOT regularly work with TV or Radio Stations, that
is handled thru Council. I generally work with the Plano Star, Dallas Morning News Collin County
Edition, Dallas Child, Youth Sports News, Dallas Family Magazine, and the Tejas News. If you
would like me to work with your church or other organization for their newsletter - please let me
know.
I can help you get media coverage for just about anything your troop is doing that is noteworthy.
This might include:
- Recruitment
- Community Service (includes: nursing homes, shelters, military, etc.)
- Events (including field trips, camp outs, thinking day, etc.)
- Awards (Silver & Gold awards go thru Council to the major media)
- Special projects (career days, sports & activities, etc.)
What I need from you is the following:
- What are you going to do? Or what did you do?
- When?
- Where?
- Pictures if available - the girls love to see themselves in print!
- Any other pertinent details

The more notice you give me - the more places I can get you noticed. Magazines usually need
30-days, Newspapers usually need 5-days. So please let me know what your troop is doing....I
would love to get you the recognition you deserve!
