SONG: S T A R - S P A N G L E D B A N N E R
WRITTEN BY: Francis Scott Key
MUSIC BY: John Stafford Smith
TABBED BY: Michael Tartaglia
This is just the basic tab of the American National Anthem. I am hoping
that you know the timing (and where the rests are, etc.). Also, there are
a few extras to make it sound more blues-ish. If you want it rock-ish,
play the rhythym guitar parts (which I made up), and have the notes shown
below played on a bass guitar. The chords are relative, so feel free to
fiddle around with them. The individial notes ARE accurate. Basically,
If you know how this song goes, then you're golden. The high "e" and "B"
strings are not used in this particular version of this song.
Note: s = slide to; so = slide it down and "fade" it out;
b = bend to; ^ = trill; R = rhythym guitar... not "R" string, duh.

O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!?
(Other verses follow same tunes as above:)
On the shore dimly seen throughout the mists of the deep
Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes
What is that which the breeze o'er the towering steep
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam
In full glory relfected now shines on the stream.
'Tis the Star Spangled Banner, Oh long may it wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave
And where is that band who so hauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion
A home and country, shall leave us no more?
Their blood was washed out their foul foot steps' pollution
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave.
And the Star-Spangled Banner in triumph doth wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.
Oh thus be it e'er when free men shall stand
Between their lov'd homes and war's desolation!
Blest with vict'ry and peace, may the heav'n rescued land
Praise the Pow'r that has made and preserv'd us a nation
And conquer we must when our case is just
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."
And the Star-Spangled Banner is triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.
