The Salingers
Owen...Steven and Andrew Cavarno
Charlie (Matthew Fox), is the oldest of the Salinger children.
After his parents died, Charlie moved back into the Salinger home in order
to take care of his four brothers and sisters. If it weren't
for him, Bailey, Julia, Claudia, and Owen could have been put in foster
homes. Charlie also runs his father's restaurant, The Salingers.
In the past, he had been romantically involved with Kirsten (Paula Devicq), Grace (Tamara Taylor), and more recently with Daphne. During season 4, Charlie was diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease and had to undergo chemotherapy. Luckily this worked and Charlie is healthy again.
19-year-old Bailey is played by Scott Wolf. Bailey has made
a lot of sacrifices for his family. Last season, he gave up some
college scholarship money in order to save the Salinger restaurant.
He decided to attend college at home, and lived in a dorm
with a female roommate, Callie (Alexondra Lee) to get the full
college experience. He had been going out with Sarah (Jennifer Love
Hewitt) until she broke up with him because he cheated on her
with Callie. Bailey has also developed an alcoholic problem during
his freshman year at college. After the family's "Intervention", Bailey
has started going to AA meetings and is making up for his
troubles with his family and Sarah. During season 4, this character moved into an apartment with Sarah to become apartment managers and has been going out with Annie.
Julia Salinger (Neve Campbell) is 18 years old and has finished her senior
year at highschool. She is known for her intelligence, but she can also be
rebellious too. She became pregnant with Justin (Michael
Goorjian) and later had a miscarriage. At the end of last season, Julia married Griffin Holbrook. Throughout season 4, the couple's relationship has been rough especially after Griffin cheated on Julia. They are now taking a break while Julia heads off to Stanford to attend college.
Claudia is a young, bright violin prodigy who
is starting to have play a role in keeping the family together.
She helps take care of Owen and also tries to stop fights between
family members. She is also starting to experiment with boys,
smoking, etc. Claudia has performed as a guest
soloist for the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra. More recently, she has been keeping busy with her new boyfriend, Jamie (Ross Malinger).
Owen is a five year old and the youngest of the Salinger family.
He doesn't really have a storyline and he doesn't play a big
role in the show. Julia and Claudia share the responsibilities
of taking care of Owen.
