NILP's services to the Deaf/Hard of hearing... are open to any resident of the Northeast area of Massachusetts who is Deaf or hard of hearing-regardless of their mode of communication, ethnic or cultural background, age, sex, or creed. The participant can call or come into the office, or a service provider can refer them to us. The NILP's goal is to enable participants to remove barriers in their community or to live Independantly according to each individual's choice.

SERVICES THAT OPEN DOORS TO INDEPENDANCE:

*Two full-time staff members are Deaf or hard of hearing

*Accessible Communication with TTY's, and sign language interpeters

*Independant Living Skills Training in areas such as Peer counseling, Finances/Benefits, Transportation.

*Advocacy in legal rights, communication and interpreter services.

*Information and Referral provides support by advocating to prevent discrimination and access barriers.

*Unique Peer Interaction helps a participant to achieve skills in areas such as self-advocacy, budgeting and money management, apartment living, operating a TTY, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and community access, and much-much more.
