'Allo 'Allo Cartoon Fun
Alternative Software, 1994. (IBM disk.)
A very cute little game, the cover art of which I snitched for my front page. This is a standard platformer, in which you can be Rene or Michelle, fulfilling little quests while outfoxing the Nazis. Graphics are, like the name indicates, cartoonish, and simple, but extremely cute. As for sound, the box announces that it has "the most spacious sound around," but I get nary a whisper out of my speakers.
The major advantage of this game is the cute little touches. While you can beat the Nazis by throwing things at them, it is more effective to throw things at members of the Resistance, and see what they do. Yvette, for instance, lifts her skirt and begins straightening her garters, causing soldiers to stand still and goggle, while LeCelerc and Edith freeze soldiers in horror with their musical performance. More than that I cannot tell, being legendarily bad at computer games. My ususal method is to wander around in a game, occaisonally exclaiming with great triumph, "Look! I made something happen!"
Problem is, every time I attempt that in this game, Rene goes to hide in a cupboard or Michelle retreats to the hairdresser.
Availablility is probably nil, as I bought this at a department store's final closing-down sale, but these are the contact details of the makers:
