One unsung soap is that of Hollyoaks , yes the teen based Chester drama. Some great stuff is emerging from this soap and I am gripped every Monday and Thursday night to the set watching events unfoled around the Bazz/Lucy/Matt storyline and the latest developments of Cindys preganancy. Not wanting to put down other soap writers too much , Creator Phil Redmond is the greatest TV Mogul ever!
Not being much of a romantic myself I found myslef suprised by the heart warmingness of Lindsey and Peters chip-shop love story in Brookie. The two happy genuine characters that are , in my opinion , the nicest characters in Brookie make me feel truly happy when they discover love in each others arms.The best thing Ms. Stanlow did was dump weedy Mike Dixon and set her sights on someone else.
Sorry my sentimentality doesn't last for long.. Barry and Vanessa?Wait while I puke.... I know , I know - Eastenders is probebly building up to a storyline but do we really have to watch these two bumble and fumble away at a love at first sight romance? Its boring , its sickening and its...its...its BARRY!
The lovely , delightful , Emily Symons deserves an oscar. Well maybe just a logie. She has the touch that gives the soap that class. She brings a cheer and a colour to an otherwise sinking soap. Well OK , maybe its not just a sinking soap but its certainly in a small slump . Marylin is this almost iconic character that can take a small meaningless scene to a great historical event. More pink , more hair , more stillettos - MORE MAZ!
From the moment Brookside brought in a "purpose built" family for one storyline (incest) we knew it would spell disaster. The saga is over now , Nat and Georgia are gone - now what? The cardbourd thin father and son characters of Ollie and Dan are annoyingly plain. Ollie seems to have twp emotions. Down the line and direct or downright mental. With Slapper Bel now out of the scene isn't it time you let these far from controversial genetic misfits go and give us , the honest disearning viewer , a break.
Finally may I add that Gaynor Faye who plays Judy Mallet is a fine fine actress - just wanted to say that!
