Summary:
The story begins in a mansion. The mansion belongs to the Perez-Campana Family. It was the property of Ruben Perez-Campana and his mother, Hilda. Ruben got married, and had a daughter, Paloma.
His wife died, and he remarried to Dora Visconti (Celeste's Teresa Visconti's cousin). They also had a daughter, Norma. Then Ruben has died, and Paloma inheritted all his fortune, which is the publishing house and half of the house (the other half belongs to Hilda).
Paloma went on a cruise with Dora, and Ruben's best friend, Arsiero, then Dora's boyfriend. Paloma fell of the ship, and disappeared, claimed dead. Only Hilda believes she is alive.
5 years have passed, and here is where we get in. Dora and Arsiero are about to get married, and Norma is also about to get married to Julian, a rich play-boy, who runs a model agency.
After the period of 5 years since Paloma's disappearance, as court sentenced, all of her fortune goes to her closest relative - Norma. Dora and Arsiero can't wait to put their hands on the money, and here we discover that they pushed Paloma of board 5 years ago...
In a different part of Buenos-Aires lives a gipsy family. The grandmother, Mitra, her grandchildren Stieva, Dara and Civinka. Actually, Civinka is not really Mitra's grandchild. Mitra found her a few years ago unconscientious on the beach and adopted her. Stieva is n love with Civinka, but only Mitra knows about it.
As we later find out, Civinka is Paloma. Paloma did not die, she only got hurt badly in the head and lost her memory.
Civinka and Dara make a living telling people their fortune. One day Civinka meets Julian. Somehow, she is convinced death rounds him. She follows him for days because she is very worried, although Mitra and Stieva object her seeing a man who's not one of the gipsies. Civinka, now convinced that death does not surround him, falls in love with Julian, which makes Mitra and Stieva even more angry. Julian makes a bet with his friend Pancho (Francsico), that he will "get lucky" with Civinka.
Pancho tries to warn Civinka, but she listens to no one and runs away with Julian, only to find herself the next morining in an empty hotel room, in bed, and with a broken illusion of her great love, Julian.
Her famiy refuses to forgive her, but eventually Mitra lets her live with them as a servant. Mitra treats Civinka horribly and doesn't stop humiliating her. One day Civinka has a car accident and she hits her head. She heads to the great mansion as Paloma, not realiing that 5 years have passed... Temporarily she does not remember her life as a gipsy.
At the mansion she has to confront Dora, Arsiero and Norma, who want her dead, since she was supposed to inherit it all and most terrible of all, she has to confront Julian, who, on top of all, is about to be the father of her future son...
